A tiny change of tone in the wider story. It appears Glorianna's infatuation has not gone unnoticed. Falkimir likes to keep things simple a trait he inherited from his father who abdicated in favor of his son to go fishing. Naturally the truth is more complicated than that.

In the first six drafts, Haldramir did not appear. He was written in due to some plot changes.

In the background we see the cavalry practicing formations and a couple of wagons are barely visible. It's Playmobil. There was a Playmobil store in a local mall that had everything so I browsed for some background items. I had wanted a 1/6th wagon from the old Marx Best of the West series but always managed to miss out. I did score some carriages from the Barbie princesses and their imitators. When doing something this epic in scale have to find stuff where I can.

But something I am managing to do is to scale back the number of new characters. It's one thing to have an epic scale story but you have to focus the casting lens. You can't just introduce new people all the time. I'm finding that in the rewrite I'm zeroing in on a handful of characters (besides Searsha) and getting a firmer grip on the subplots.

Meanwhile elsewhere, I have been collecting stuff for some World War II short stories. We'll see how that goes. I'm thinking of dramatizing episodes from various memoirs as well as my own silly exploitation movie style stuff. (Dark Gods of the SS anyone?) We'll see what can get produced.

When Sword of Kings was cancelled I was at a loss for what to do with all my medieval stuff so I also wrote a bunch of exploitation barbarian /sword and sandal stuff in the vein of the classic Barbarian Queen series.
