The Cull - Chapter 2 - Page 30

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope you had a great start. I gifted myself a lovely Ugee 19 inch screen tablet that I've been experimenting with over the past few days. The after-effects on this page were mostly done with the tablet and I'm already in love with it…it really cuts down on the time needed. I'm also experimenting with colours, so it may not be long before you get the first pages of The Cull in glorious colour…
Anyway, as you see from this page, Emma is a bit grumpy, but now we know what her and Adam's destination is…The Hive itself!
A daring undertaking, no doubt, so we'll see how they do once hey get under way.

I never fail to be astounded by the level of skill and detail that goes into this!! And such a well-realized world...!!! That said, I absolutely can't wait for these two gals to meet!! It's gonna be beautiful!!

@jerrie: Sorry, I should have been more clear I guess. The pencils and inks were done by hand as usual, only the digital shading, lighting etc. were done with the tablet. I did try very briefly to do some drawing directly on the tablet, but I don't think with the setup I have right now I'd be happy with the results - and the look would quite radically change as well.

@fallopian: I bet a Cintiq is a few steps up on the Ugee I have. But I just didn't see myself using it enough and being good enough with it to commit to the luxury model right off the bat, so I chose the budget option. I'm very impressed with the value for money aspect of the Ugee so far. I've only had it a few days, but I can see myself getting more seriously into digital art because of it. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

@tupa: You may be right...but at the moment they don't even know her predicament yet. If it does happen, it will be a pretty spontaneous operation. And we all know how well those tend to go.

I've been toying around with getting a Cintiq myself for quite a while now. I'm glad to hear you're liking it. I can't wait to see some of the colour work!
