So… I just got back from the Gulf Coast, now I gotta go to Atlanta Thursday….Gahhhhh!!! This travelling will slow down – promise!
.
Due to the travelling, I sorta rushed this page, and it shows… Kimber Lee is sorta squat-looking in the first panel, and Saavedra's face is all crunched. The panel with the soldiers - one of them should be falling over… I'll try to take more care for future pages, even if it greatly increases posting time.
.
Saavedra's attitude; I get maddened and frustrated by such people but also admire them (usually from afar haha). If he'd been more passive, maybe nothing would've happened (other than Kimber Lee and, possibly everyone, taken captive against their will). Now… Let's just say that for the next several pages, the foul-smelling, brown compost is about to meet the cooling device with spinning blades…!
.
Thanks for reading everyone :)

@FC: Thanks! I guess that's one way to put a positive spin on a rushed page haha - certainly would be a time saver as well... It certainly has its appeal. The author of the comic 'Supermassive Black Hole', which I think I've seen you comment on, seems to use a similar method and his stuff is beautiful. The next page I hope feels very dynamic, and I took a little bit of time with it haha

If you rushed the page, it gave the art an energetic, gestural look. That works, though, since this is an energetic part of the story. I read an interview with one illustrator who used a timer to limit his production time to ten minutes per painting, in order to keep them fresh.

@bravo: Realistic? No... at least in the sense that for most people, self-preservation far outweighs bravado and sense of honor infringed, but for those rare few... I think there are a few things that I'd put my life on the line for (family being number one), daring others to take it, even against dire odds, but for personal honor... Yeeesh... It'd depend on how much I was getting 'dishonored'. A 'home invasion' probably wouldn't qualify for me, but I can almost see where it might (under certain circumstances)... maybe... err... hope I'm never under such conditions :))

Risk assessment. Is the attitude realistic is view of the apparent threat? Gun, you get shot. Call your lawyer.
KimLuster at 4:42AM, June 18, 2014
@peipei: yeah, I'm betting there'll be lots of recriminations and self-doubts later on...
KimLuster at 4:18AM, June 18, 2014
@plymayer: yeah it's kicking in bigtime! Them's a lotta guns out there, but they ain't seen nuthin like Kimber Lee before ;)

@Banes: It's tough to know when to admire people 'standing up to tyranny, especially if their actions put OTHERS (incl children) in danger, but... Martin Luther King's actions certainly endangered his own family. I know a police officer who got threatening calls from low-lifes all the time, including against his family, but he always continued his investigations... different situations than this, but... tough call!

@jgib99: Thanks!

This situation is escalating really quickly, and not in the way that we'd like it to go in. D:

She has it covered. She just doesn't know she has it covered. Her protective instincts will kick in. Hopefully before one of the good guys or gals gets shot or worse.
Banes at 9:08PM, June 17, 2014
I agree - I admire his attitude (though he's risking OTHERS' lives too, which makes it...a little iffy). It's on Kim now! Maybe with an assist by Saavedra! He's a tough old bird to be sure!

Intense page. Great work. :)

@bravo: Great advice! - she's listening!
bravo1102 at 5:23PM, June 17, 2014
Okay Kimber Lee, work your magic and do that thing you do so well. Jump, spin and disarm everyone before they know what happened. Do no harm and prevent others from doing harm! Don't doubt, DO!
