Tried a method similar to a few pages ago, where the page is wet first then apply a very basic layer, the let it dry completely before doing the rest. Seems I'm able to correct the runoffs from the first layer easier. I'll experiment with this for a bit…
.
It was fun drawing Kimber Lee doing all that flipping and body contortions, but in doing so, I kinda forgot the back patio of the house has a large roof section that covers the center of it (easily seen in previous pages). Kimber wouldn't be able to jump towards the soldiers as depicted while also tossing those ashtrays mid-jump without accounting for that section of house. So… pretend she does… somehow haha :)
.
Speaking of pretending and suspension of disbelief, I've never been in a firefight (much less one involving military-grade equipment), so it may stretch things to think Kimber Lee could possibly move fast enough before the soldiers get off that first shot. I like to think that the soldiers were somewhat stunned by what they saw. Yeah they're trained professionals but they've never seen a human do what Kimber Lee just did.
.
And Kimber Lee is moving pretty fast. And thinking while doing it. She doesn't actually ‘slow time’, rather, her perceptions and mental activity speed up where it seems time is slower to her (as depicted in several movies). Has anyone seen the Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jr, where the protagonist is in a fight and mentally plans out his moves, the film shows them happening in slo-mo as he describes each step, then the real fight occurs, and all his moves are a blur, and the fight is over in seconds. I like to think that when Kimber Lee ‘slows time’, her actions are like the slo-mo planning of Sherlock's fight ('cept she's thinking as she does it), and for everyone else it's ‘real time’.
.
Okay, I pretty much have no more buffer pages :( Future pages will come out as I complete them. And I'm still involved with some necessary family stuff. So… will do what I can.
.
Thanks for reading everyone :)

Yowch!! I can only imagine what an ashtray in the eyes must feel like! She's dangerous! I really loved both the Sherlock Holmes movies btw. I didn't expect to like the first one at all so I was really pleasantly surprised to see what a marvellous job they made of the story and everything else on that. Loved the music too!

Thanks jgib99 :)

Really love this page. Great action.

@bravo: Thanks! I was especially curious about whether you'd think the scenario would be at least somewhat plausible (as you seem to have a well-defined sense for 'accuracy', be it tactical, strategic, or historical). I do like this technique alot! - but it still needs some honing. I'm well into my next page and I made the initial layers darker on purpose thinking I could 'lift' out the pigment for lighter areas. It's working, sort of, but the entire page is turning out much darker than I'd like. Finally, Red, White, and Blue!!! Kimber Lee is pulling for Team USA in the World Cup, so she's dressed appropriately :)

Girl flies up in the air and tosses ashtray? Yeah most professionals would have to pick their jaw up off the ground before reacting. They just don't train you for that kind of stuff so your reaction time goes way down and Kimber Lee's actions are between the ticks of your watch. This is a great technique. Rich and textured. It's your best to date. And you realize Kimber Lee is in red, white and blue? She's for America creeps leave her alone!

@Peipei: Well she's certainly committed to giving it a hellacious try now :)

@plymayer: Thanks! Yeah, this is proof that smoking has some benefits. I like her outfit too, but Kimber Lee probably would've worn something a little more practical if she knew she'd be jumping and flipping like this! :)
Peipei at 10:39PM, June 22, 2014
Is she gonna take out the whole army by herself o.o? Goodluck to you Kimber! Give them hell! xD
plymayer at 9:18PM, June 22, 2014
Great action scenes. Love her snazzy outfit.
plymayer at 9:15PM, June 22, 2014
See! Thank God there were smokers there. If there had not been, there would not have been projectiles laying about.

@Szyszka666: ha, it took her a while, but I think Kimber Lee is getting a pretty good handle on how powerful she can be!
Szyszka666 at 10:59AM, June 22, 2014
She's a war machine! Love it! I always liked women that can take care of themselves, instead of being another damsel in distress...

@Banes: Thanks! I really hope this develops into a method I can sorta stick with :) No-Buffer-Club! We should make T-Shirts :D
Banes at 8:29AM, June 22, 2014
For my taste, this method makes for a fantastic look - there's texture to the page, but the characters are well defined. Fantastic page! And I think it makes sense, too, that the soldiers would be stunned for a couple seconds. Ah, the no buffer club! Proud member, right here! Hope the family stuff turns out alright.

@FC: Thanks! Long hair isn't an advantage when doing sports, acrobatics, or fighting - Kimber Lee's extra abilities prevent it from being detrimental. Let's hope that continues to be the case ;) And the no-buffer-page club? That's pretty exclusive so I hear. I'm pleased to be considered for membership :)
fallopiancrusader at 6:21AM, June 22, 2014
Nice job capturing how long hair will do all sorts of crazy things when jumping and leaping. Welcome to the no-buffer-page club!
