@plymayer: yeah, even though they've been sorta flirty and bantery in the past (pgs 24,27, their dinner 'date' pgs 85-90) he seems the last person she'd want to kiss right now... maybe she just thinks she can make him 'see' what she does by doing so - people are strange, esp. when they're desperate!
