just sad this week… the ghost of the past are to loud.. i know they are the ghosts of toxic people in my past… that i need to tell them they lie….. but they get so loud …and the evidence tends to line up with the words of the ghost…and crushes me… it will get better …but right now its not..
Well, hopefully it helps when we say we want you and want to see you succeed! Both for the selfish reason of wanting to see more of your works and because seeing you doing well warms my heart. Once I get my own life on track I'll be looking to help you out, along with other artists whose works I enjoy!
Please be kind to yourself. You deserve it. Depression is hard to deal with. And it is amazing that you are still working and even making your comics. Thank you for being so open about what are happening in your life. We are several that are happy that you exist. So yes you are very much wanted!
I hope you find the strength to renew your teaching license.
I agree that you should look into that other job. If they're looking for full time help now, it means that either the business is expanding or someone they hired instead of you didn't work out or moved on. Either way, it's an opportunity you shouldn't miss taking. And keeping your teaching license means keeping hold of future opportunities. So hang in there and don't let the recent rough times keep you down.

I've learned that there are basically two ways people try to get ahead in life. By improving themselves, or by tearing others down. Ignore the ghosts of the past telling you you're worthless. The only way those people know how to get ahead in life is by pushing others down. If you listen to them and give up, that's how they win. And don't worry about failing - people fail most of the time. I mentioned before that the average job calls in 20-25 people for interviews, meaning 19-24 people will fail for every 1 who succeeds. They key is not to get discouraged, and get back out there and try again. The only way to guarantee failure is to not try.
Notes to self often have a limited impact. So here are some notes from me to you:
- You absolutely are wanted and needed
- You are most definitely worth taking care of
- You are a wonderful individual and a talented artist
I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but please don't doubt the sincerity of these words. You're great. Hang in there.
I would recommend filling out the paperwork to renew your teaching license and, if it's not too late, the application for that other job. Just consider it boring work that needs to be done, like your regular job, but more important. You deserve a more fulfilling career than sorting plastic.
Renew the teaching credentials. If you're not confident about teaching again, you don't have to use the credentials. But if you don't renew them, you won't even have the option to teach if the opportunity presents itself. You should always try to keep your options open. Better to have the credentials and not need them, than need the credentials and not have them.
I should mention that most proper jobs work the way you described here. You start with just enough skills to be productive at entry level work, then when the boss sees you can handle that, they mix in slightly more complicated work, and when you master that, on to even more complicated things. Eventually your ability to master complicated work makes you highly valuable to the company and they don't want you to leave, so they offer regular raises to keep you. I hate the interview process because it's so hard on people suffering from anxiety issues, something like a brief unpaid internship leading to paid employment might work better for you.
