Today we're chatting about using historical stuff in your story and knowing how to use it right! Sometimes it's good to change stuff and sometimes it's not. The thing is that you should ONLY change it if you know what you're doing and why you're doing it. A good example is A Knight's Tale- It has a historical setting and there are a lot of deliberate historical anachronisms in it, and they're all very obvious, they do not pretend to be anything but what they are.
A Bad example is the Vikings TV series which has a historical setting and claims to be about real people and to actually represent those real people in history but the characters have modern hipster hairstyles, silly death-metal eye makeup, hipster tattoos, and fantasy biker outfits. A far, far better representation of viking people can be found in the 2019 movie “Huntress: Rune of the Dead”.

I could spin many a yarn about History. Like the Sami of Scandinavia, Finland, and Russia. The Ainu over in Hokkaido, the Ryukyu peoples of the Ryukyu Islands. The Viking invasions of the British Isles, complete with them founding Dublin in Ireland. Viking trading over in Eastern Europe (Which reached as far as the Middle East.). The history of the Kingdom of Java. The Various soldiers in the Civil War of Non-White Ancestry (And I'm not talking African American, Native American, or Hispanic (Of which there were many of those 3 categories.). History is full of some CRAZY shit you'd be shocked actually happened.
