“Please Keep Your Dreams Alive.”

Daylight Savings Time (Spring Forward) was celebrated by watching the Academy Award opening monologue and Oscar Winner acceptance speeches. A powerful speech can be delivered in a variety of ways, but one in particular was delightful.

Ke Huy Quan shared these word pearls:

Dreams are something you have to believe in.
I almost gave up on mine.
To all of you out there—
Please keep your dreams alive
.”

There you have it, the olde adage from a favorite classic 1985 film, The Goonies, still applies today: “Goonies never say ‘Die’.” - Michael Walsh (played by Sean Astin) in the Goonies

(Admittedly, I did not remember Ke Huy Quan by name or face, instantly, but as soon as I heard “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “Data in the Goonies” my eyes lit up because it was like seeing an old, familiar childhood friend from a VHS tape.)

Here we have an actual Goonie reminding everyone to, “Please keep your dreams alive.”

Sounds like sound (logical, reasonable) advice to follow.

I've more-or-less resigned to the fact that I've pretty much had to give up on my dreams . . . it's not for lack of trying, it's just that in this day and age, as corporate agendas dominate more and more, and their agendas continue to push for sequels, remakes, reboots, franchises, etc., there clearly is no room for originality anymore - and not only that, but even on an independent level, there's very little room for new, fresh content either, because everything has to fit in with whatever the trends, algorithms, or zeitgeist are. Plus, my life in general has pretty much taken turns I never expected either.

Two Goonies have been nominated for Oscars, Ke in "Everything Everywhere..." and Josh Brolin in "Milk" (best supporting actor) and one has won it. "Never say die" indeed. Dee - Succubus writer dude

He's cool, he's got this soft friendliness about him :) That was a genuinely good film I was excited o see it as soon as I caught a glimpse of the trailer on Instagram. One of the few trailers that actually does a movie justice!

I applaud Studio A24 for taking on daring films. This year’s awards recipients were a long, overdue love letter to the years 1985-1993.

I haven't watched all the nominees this time, but I do think it's amazing how that film managed to bag so many awards considering its often wacky humor. Yet I could hardly argue with any of the awards, because I love this movie so much and the creativity and effort put into it from all fronts and somehow I get the impression that the movie turned out great with such performances despite its often being completely bonkers because Daniels are just fun to work with and they're reminded that this is more of a passion than actual work.
