Hehe, mage vs. melee and this time the mage is at the left end of the quadratic curve. "rogue successfully uses sneak skill" "dark mage beaten by blunt object" "mage loses concentration and fumbles" "mage passes out" "party shares 100XP" ;D *insert line break here* Well, the cone was most likely full of ice. If it wasn't the air resistance would have made it easier to just use his fists. A dry pine cone moving faster than sound would be a wicked weapon, though! Don't even hit them - just let the sound waves knock them out. *insert line break here* To be honest, I'd be worried that if he passed out, the fire would keep burning... and not be in his control. But if I was an author of a tragic fantasy story, maybe my characters would think that Murphy was being optimistic. *insert line break here* Oh wow, now someone will have to draw a pine-cone-on-a-cord variation of a whip! This would be a great parody of Steve's 'bat' in Life&Death, btw.
