Episode 127 - Early Influences in Print Comics

May 28, 2013

For Quackcast 127 we asked the DD community about the traditional print comics that influenced them over the years, from their early days onward. No webcomics! Only the old printed kind in comic books or newspapers, or gum wrappers or... however else people got their comicbook goodness. And it was TOTALLY ok to talk about mainstream comics like Batman and Superman if that was their thing or obscure stuff no one ever heard of or weird embarrassing crap like He-Man comics, whatever, it's all good, we wanted to know! We got quite a few responses and we thank everyone for those, It also gave us a chance to do our funny voices again, which we appreciated!

Yeaaaaah... I totally sound just like that. I love how I apparently turned French halfway through. I kind of agree with Pit's part, Spawn is awesome. It was one of the first really dark comics I read, soon followed by No Hero, which is dark in a completely different way. I'm really disappointed in Oz for not knowing the Sandman... And you people should all read Storm as well, which is an originally Dutch comic... De Wentelwereld is a Dutch title.

Imagine if the QuackCast was recorded from the cold North of Canada. Nunavut is no joke, their official crest is a caribou and narwhal surrounding an igloo wearing a crown. It is more like the crest of Awesome-ness!

Yep that's what I meant. :P

Hahaha, you mean the version of you I did reading Pam Harrison? That's probably about right! ^_^

Ozone has the unique capacity to give me a feel for how I'd sound when I'm 60 years old on freak bootleg booze. I knew that particular Storm cover would make an impression on you boys. :P

I only read that comic as a teeny tadger beav, so I don't know much about it... I have a copy around somewhere, but there's not much to it. :(

Oz your assessment of scrooge mcduck comics makes me sad in my heart. Did you know the opening scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark was lifted from Carl Barks's run?
