Hey guys, It's actually Emi here today. This page broke my heart. There is nothing worse than feeling low and in so much hurt, to the point where you can't feel or know what to do. Next week: Sarah tries to deal with the hurt oh Janey cheating.
Ultimately, the brain injury, along with anything, is just going to be an excuse. What were the reasons? No one can say there were none. Sarah was constantly hanging around, and helping out, someone Janey loathed because that person tried to kill her. Sarah also spent a lot of time around someone Janey was a bit jealous of, and even shared a kiss with that person. Sarah was also constantly being made aware, by Janey, that Janey had further sexual horizons she wanted to explore, and was consistently unwilling to explore them with her. Sarah was also constantly snarky and jealous of Janey's best friend who, as far as Janey knew, never actually did anything to Sarah except stand up for Janey. Now said friend, a long-time crush of Janey's, comes along, cracks open some alcohol of some sort, maybe offers to explore those horizons Janey was being denied...it's hard to see it going any better than it did. Sarah and Janey need to take some time apart to reevaluate their relationship.
_Everyone_ seems to be forgetting that Janey has a serious brain injury, and like said earlier, someone in that situation needs pretty much a fulltime selfless carer, and as much as Sarah may have grown to care _about_ Janey, she has never really shown that she is capable of caring _for_ Janey. It has long felt to me that Sarah is only still with Janey because she feels guilty that Janey was thrown in front of the van. Hopefully this time apart will allow her to grow and decide whether she really wants to be with Janey (both as a lover/wife _and_ as a full time carer), Janey may not need the lover/wife part but she certainly needs the carer part
Truth to be told... Jane really cut the throat, let bleed and drop to the river to rot any chance of a healthy relationship with Sarah. At all...
A relationship is built around trust, dependability and responsibility as well as romance and adventure. Sarah may truly and honestly FORGIVE, but isn't very likely that she will FORGET. Anything that both try to build from this time on will be clouded by resentment and mistrust...
Besides, Janey didn't even TRY to talk about what was going on, she just betrayed Sarah... with a person that she pretty much despises... on THEIR BED...
There is a reason why the Last Circle of Hell is reserved to traitors...
...but it can be relationship-destroying for some of us, forgiveness or not. I was never unfaithful to my wife...never went looking, altho I was "given the nod" a couple of times from the other direction. So, had my wife cheated I'd have been jelly.
Plenty of my mates in the past _were_ , to use an Oz colloquialism, "root-rats". Funnily(?) enough, my 3 previous regular girlfriends all cheated on me, well before telling me and breaking up (To be 'fair' one of them was actually cheating _with_ me on someone else. Still hurt tho'!).
We've spent so much time being invested in this relationship, I hope they end up together. :/ I'll be heartbroken if Janey's life goes completely sour over it. A mistake of epic proportions was made, and some time apart may be for the best...but I can't accept cheating as a 'never forgive' action. Anyone who's never cheated can't really understand all the the things that can conspire into it. Sometimes maybe it's just 'horny and easy,' sometimes it can be 'you're not good enough,' but often there are more circumstances. Just no one takes the time to figure it all out. It's a very trying and emotional thing for everyone involved, not just the person being cheated on. No coin has only one side, nor does any story. I'd personally like to know Janey's side in all of this. ~Liz
Dare I say anything this week? An amazing show of emotions here and obviously all very heartfelt and many no doubt also related to from your own experiences. This is actually quite exciting for me and as Ironsides points out if this hadn't have happened we probably would ahve gone into chapter 5 with "Sarah making a cup of tea while Janey reads the Sun." moments. As things stand they will definitely split up over this but after putting the case for Janey's defence I'll let Sarah's final feelings be guided by popular opinion on whether they ever get back together again or not. On one hand time may soften Sarah or she will finally meet another girl who turns out to be perfect for her, I'm not bias either way.
Acenia: I'm sorry hon, this clearly isn't the comic for you is it.
Every good story needs an evil bitch character. Imagine Snow White without the Queen, Cinderella without the ugly sisters or Magic Roundabout without Florence. Would anyone have been interested?
To quote the Bard: "The course of true love never did run smooth." and, of course, "Lord, what fools these mortals be." To quote Kryten: " It's the old story: droid meets droid, droid becomes chameleon, droid loses chameleon, chameleon turns into blob, droid gets blob back again, blob meets blob, blob goes off with blob and droid loses blob, chameleon and droid. How many times have we heard that story?" What I'm trying to say is that a good story needs dramatic twists or every Saturday we'd be treated to an installment of Sarah making a cup of tea while Janey reads the Sun. Now, who knows what lies ahead of us? It's certainly going to be fun finding out.
I still hope for a happy ending for Sarah and Janey. We knew something was going to happen, though. Look back at the first page of Chapter 4. Sarah, clearly older, is writing S+J in a heart on a window. Someone calls for her, and she erases it. If it was Janey, there'd be no need. That they would either split, or Janey would die, was a foregone conclusion. Thankfully, she didn't die. But Sarah does love her, or will come to love her again. I'm not giving up on this happy ending for them. ~Liz
Everyone seems to be forgetting that Janey has a serious brain injury, and, speaking from personal experience, people like that need more attention than Sarah was prepared to give. Here's hoping that Janey can find someone willing to selflessly care for her and give her the attention she needs. Please allow me to make a suggestion for Sarah to do for the next year: adopt a puppy, and if she can cope with all that looking after a puppy entails, only then will she be able to let Janey back into her life
nice plot!!! i wasnt expecting that at all since sky always go beyond our expectations and shock us so im really happy we get a i knew it once in a while.
and as for the cheating well, its not like its never been done before and besides janey is sarah's first love so in rl you dont expect the happily ever after.
now a question...
can it all be just a dream in the end? xDD
that would be more wow lolz
Geez, these events are dividing the entire community! Well, I'm jumping right in and joining the Sarah-club. Cheating, imo, is the ultimate betrayal and it's unforgivable. I don't see how Sarah has neglected Janey or not shown her feelings... so Janey's action is absolutely inexcusable. The fact that she did it in her own bed with a person that she knows that will do anything to hurt her (ex-)girlfriend just adds to the humiliation. She is a heartless bitch and if she wants Sarah back she better have a million-dollar-plan up her sleeve (which I doubt).
It will do Sarah good to be by herself for a while and learn that you don't always need a partner to be happy in life. I also think it would do her some good if she dated somebody else (not right away of course), somebody she didn't know before. I think the introduction of a new character is also about time.
Damn @LV getting to be as bad as you are said so much have to use a second box to finish. As to my off the wall comment about Stacey, don't be to quick to judge her as straight remember she was raped on a regular basis before she could find out her orientation then she grabbed Richard and married him so he could legally rape her, ugly step father shows up for more rape on the side. Now they are both out of her life she may be realizing she has an orientation that's not where she has been so far. I'm NOT saying that the rape drove her to a Lesbian orientation, I'm saying her life has been so crappy this far she may just be realizing where her emotions go.
@LV Sorry my friend Janey is a selfish, uncaring bitch just like Claire, they deserve each other. If she was gonna bump uglies with Claire the least she could have done was find a no tell motel so there was no chance to get caught, or use Claires place like they probably do on a regular basis. Therefore one has to think she wanted to get caught and flaunt it in Sarah's face figuring Sarah would take it like the good little subbie she has been. I don't see a time when Sarah hasn't been accommodating to Janey except when Janey strongly hinted at a threesome (any bets on who Janey had in mind for the third?) On the other hand, things like this can and do drive sensitive people like Sarah over the edge up to and at time including suicide. As to your observation about Claire not being Bi, sorry she so reminds me of a woman who worked for me 10 years ago same attitude same mannerism, same Queen Bitch personality and she had both a boy toy and a girl toy and flaunted both.
Meh... I still see no reason here. If it was really all that damn bad in the relationship, why didn't Janey just break up with her. Someone already mentioned she's done it twice already in the past. Surely, she could have done it again if she was so unhappy. But no. Janey didn't. Somehow, she thought it was the better option to cheat than just end things. One can't help but assume she was being selfish in that she wanted to have her cake and eat it too. And you know what? Now, there's hardly a chance to deal with any pre cheating problems because that little stunt just broke the playing field.
Maybe it's time that Sarah lived on her own so she can grow (up _and_ as a person). Don't really feel that Sarah and Gerry would make a good couple, but they would make a great friend-pair (too similar to be a couple, but enough to be BFFs, with or without benefits). OIS: are you forgetting Janeys brain injury? not excusing her actions but she does have extenuating problem
So, my two cents. Janey has been immature and selfish. No doubt about that. Sky commented last week that now Sarah will be living the single life for the first time. This is a good opportunity for her to get out and meet new people. I can see Nikki going out with her as moral support. Also, she will probably be looking for a new job. I can't see her wanting to spend 8 hours a day with someone she can't stand the sight of. So, lots of options for a new character or two.
Didn't mean to ramble on and on this time, ya'll. >.> Sorries...I just think the situation is unfair for Janey. She messed up, but we all do. Sarah should've paid more attention to her, Janey should've been more...discreet...this, that, and the other...it all came together. But if they'd lead things perfectly, there would be no story. And I'd be devoid of a glorious Janey ass-shot. And seriously...what was she supposed to say? I'm Sorry may not seem like it cuts it, but nothing would. I choose, instead, to applaud the fact that she made the conscious effort to -not- make up some excuse. You can see where she started in the first panel, but then thought better of it. I believe she is sorry, since she saw first-hand the hurt on Sarah's face. I personally hope this drives Claire right out of the picture. I have every hope and dream that they will get past this in the end and be stronger for it. Just my two cent...and three paragraphs...stupid Duck's parser limits... ~Liz
When you're with someone, you don't ignore their needs. If you're adamant against something, that's fine. It should be discussed, though, and explained. Not just a flat 'no' and there she goes. And Claire was all too eager to drive a wedge between them to begin with. Janey is clearly in the wrong, but this relationship was torn apart on three different fronts. It's not 'she cheated, never forgive her, bitch must die.' It's 'she was neglected, she made a horrible decision, where do we go now?' Janey can be selfish, but so can Sarah, in other ways. Janey's needs aren't met by anyone else, so who can she turn to? Maybe I am biased (Alright, I definitely am...) but the balloon was going to burst. And for the lesbian-shippers...I really -really- still don't see Claire as a legit bi/les. And sorry DragonRider...but I don't see Stacey in the closet either. :/ She needs a lot of counseling anyways before she'll be ready for a real full and steady relationship in the first place.
I just don't see Sarah and Gerry even making a good couple. Not just from a story-telling standpoint, but from a personal relationship one. They're too similar in too many ways. They would be, at best, to one another as Sarah was to Janey to begin with. Too comfortable in their relationship to really grow it out and expand their horizons a bit. Janey at least made that attempt, and was shut down flatly and quickly every single time. How was she selfish to think of eating when Nikki was outed to a coworker? She couldn't help it, no one could. I can see her logic if she figured it wouldn't help to stress over it. I'd be the same way. Why worry about what we can't help? We'll just give ourselves wrinkles and health problems. I'm not saying anything to defend her cheating, but I will say I can -understand- it. Sarah has been so caught up with everyone and everything else, and she's neglected Janey's desires...it was going to happen. I would've done it, I -have- done it.
Was going back to good times (the scene with the conveniently placed lava-lamp) and checked the following few pages and Sarah admitted what she felt for Janey wasn't really love but simply infatuation, shame that her real love is now very happy with another girl
