SS6 10 Something beastly in the bedroom
skyangel on Dec. 30, 2016
The story so far: Sarah has moved into her girlfriend Lucy's house but has been pestered by strange dreams concerning the death of Lucy's previous partner Laura, who died there in rather mysterious circumstances. Although Sarah has found the family prefer not to talk about Laura she keeps getting the strangest feeling that Laura is trying to communicate with her!
I'm posting early this weekend to make up for the lack of an update last week but hopefully you were all having such a great Christmas anyway that you never noticed! ;) Hope you all had, and are STILL having a lovely holiday. We're both sorted now at last, so Saturday updates should be on time again from here on for a while.
Secondly!!! We have a lovely, fun fanart sent in by InfectedBlood who does the Green Eyed Sniper comic, You can see that here:
FANART by InfectedBlood
Next week: Sarah feels a need to get away from the house after this rather unsettling experience but finds her choices somewhat limited!
Have a lovely week and Happy New Year!! :)

Quick! Get the white sage!
DarkVisor at 5:51AM, Jan. 4, 2017
Yeah, have the impression Papa is a bit more 'subtle', at least at first...

DV: Really good points there. I did consider having Sarah find out that all the paperwork was in Lucy's fathers name but probably I'll let her keep the car anyway. I think his angle would be more to feel that if he spoils her enough she won't want to upset the applecart but I think he underestimates just how strong Sarah's morality is. She would go to Nikki for sure, as she always does, if this doesn't work out, and maybe if it happens enough times she'll do it for keeps but I'm not saying she will do of course!

Udyr: I remembered you mentioning you used Sketch-up for your street scenes so I downloaded it and built the mansion just so I could play with cool camera angles more, so that's all thanks to you really although the change of storyline has allowed me to go for far more dramatic shots than would have been suitable for other chapters as well.

Ironside: Sorry to hear you had such a bad year, and it does sound like it was quite a grim one for you but I hope that's all behind you now! It's lovely to see you again anyway :) As for my art, yea, it's weird to think that from the very start I've always tried to do the best art I can and slowly raised the bar over the pages without even realising it. When I feel I've done a really cool page or panel though it's an amazing high, so I guess I'm always trying to recapure that same hit again.

Udyr: I said to skyangel a couple of years ago that the artwork continues to get better and better. Just compare the first few pages with what we've got now. I agree with what you said about angles. It certainly adds to the drama. For me the whole thing is just much more complete. In panels three and four you can smell the faint mustiness of an unoccupied room.

Was mostly referring to the 'gift' of the three-year-old car, and a roof over her head: if she tries to leave, would the father let her? Would he let her keep the car? And where would she go anyway? Nikki would be willing to have her stay, or she could see if one of her other friends had a spare couch they would let her crash on. But of course, that would mean leaving Lucy behind. Looking forward, of course, to what comes next

The title of this comic is so appropriate lol XD I notice artwise you're playing more with angles lately than before? Loving it.
oldironside at 6:18AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Well, thanks for asking, but actually that was the worst year of my life. Still, mustn't grumble.
skyangel at 3:56AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Mo: Hehe We shall see! ;)
skyangel at 3:54AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Infected: I loved the humour of it most, and it's nice it's still very relevant to the storyline too. Thanx :)
skyangel at 3:53AM, Jan. 2, 2017
DV: Everything has a flip side doesn't it! ;) Luckily Sarah has more interest in things of greater personal value but having enjoyed such comforts I can imagine she might be reluctant to give them up. Her state of mind will probably make the decision for her in the end. ;)
skyangel at 3:49AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Ironside!! Good to see you again! Hope you've been keeping well! :)
skyangel at 3:46AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Bear: Cate Planchette? lol I'll have to remember that one!
skyangel at 3:45AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Kim: Haha As I said to Bear, I always try to relate and in my childhood I must have bolted outdoors so many times that the above scene feels very personal. It amazes me really how safe and secure daylight could make me feel.
skyangel at 3:40AM, Jan. 2, 2017
Bear: I have to admit that's a new one on me but it's certainly food for thought. I always relate as closely as I can to my own experiences and it's interesting that often the things that freak me out most are quite basic things like hearing a creak in an empty room. I always had a fear of the dark in my childhood so I recall plenty of those moments!

Merry Christmas Phantom! It goes so fast doesn't it!!
DarkVisor at 11:34AM, Jan. 1, 2017
It does, doesn't it :P
BearinOz at 7:49PM, Dec. 31, 2016
You make that sound like marriage, Darkvisor ! B-)
moizmad at 1:39PM, Dec. 31, 2016
That bird-cage is just too ominous for my liking. That crow is in there I'm thinking, and he is the harbinger? of bad tidings re Laura.
Infected Blood at 9:46AM, Dec. 31, 2016
Run for your life, Sarah! Really cool atmosphere and her face in the one to the last panel is awesome :) It was my pleasure to do some fanart for you, sky! I'm glad you enjoy it. I've been meaning to do it for the longest time, and finally got off my ass and did it. Thanks for the pitch!
DarkVisor at 8:55AM, Dec. 31, 2016
Yeah, difficult to leave once you have been made a comfortable prisoner, with obligations and ties
oldironside at 1:13AM, Dec. 31, 2016
You certainly have a gift for creating an atmospheric ghost story.
BearinOz at 8:40PM, Dec. 30, 2016
Yeah, it's name is "Kate", Kim B-)
KimLuster at 7:15PM, Dec. 30, 2016
Planchette...?? I never knew that thing had a name!! I, for one, am glad Sarah is outta there...!! I've held my breath for the last three pages!! You can really feel Sarah's panic here, and the oppressive atmosphere!!
