SS6 40 Sarah is troubled

I have to admit I'm struggling a bit to turn out pages lately. When I have plenty of time to slip into the storyline and ‘live’ it, my emotions take over and the art flows so much better but when I've been too busy and the time margin narrow I do feel pressured and I'm sure it shows in my work which is probably one reson why I'm always reluctant to do art for money.
So anyway, not very happy with this page but at least it's another step nearer to ones I'm really looking forward to doing!

Our Sarah is being uncharacteristically tactful and smart (I was trying to find a nicer word for it) in her approach to Lucy here. I certainly am eager to find out the truth.

Fred: Weirdly, it frustrates me not being able to get their quicker. Every page feels like a step nearer and yet it still feels like we are moving too slow! But it would ruin it to rush there without showing the path of research Sarah follows so I have to be patient too but keep moving.

Don't, don't feel pressured to complete a page, if you are not 'fully into it', it will show, so far, that hasn't really happened (if it has, can't remember), but personally would rather a page be delayed than rushed

DV: It's kinda hard to explain really as I just mentioned to Fred, some pages feel like stumbling blocks I would rather avoid but I know they have to be done so we can all move on. So although lack of time would stop me turning out a page, feeling unmotivated is something I try not to give into as I know the things I put off today will not change for me tomorrow, so I like to get over it and move on to a page which I know I will enjoy much more.

The page looks vibrant and beautiful to me. I was just thinking how I wished I could do backgrounds like you lol Time is no enemy of yours apparently

Hi Jason. I've been very lucky the past 7 years in that I've so often had plenty of free time to put a lot of effort into the comic, which I'll always be very thankful for as the practice clearly shows, but recently I've had a lot more going on that has tightened things up timewise and it's taken time to get those spaces back again but I think I have a better control again now :)

Phantom: I know you guys do, and thanks for that but I do enjoy doing the comic so much as a whole that these blips tend to pass as soon as the next page goes better!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Sarahs expression in the last panel, it captures her absolute terror very well. She realises something is absolutely UP. Poor Lucy she's been brainwashed so hard, I wonder what actually happened to Laura... It reminds me a bit of a series called Black Books (without mentioning more) Not sure if you're familiar with it... But its still pretty messed up.

Udyr2 Reading your replies to DV I realise you do mean that prog. I loved the series and both Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey were excellent in that, I wish they had done more.

Udyr: I didn't know what sort of expression to put on Sarah's face in that last panel so I just went with the flow, but I still wasn't sure if her expression worked or not so it's nice to hear you like it! :) Wasn't Black Books that comedy show about the two guys running a second hand book shop?

Not 'brainwashed', simply... misinformed (or even so far as blatantly lied to) ... Laura probably recovered, but Lucy's dad (or her his wife) used that as an opportunity to separate them ... Do you mean the TV 'comedy' series?

Ditto everyone is that I didn't notice any 'lessening' in your stuff due to RL issues. Typical SS page if you ask me (and that's good)!! Still the same leisurely pace but always moving forward. You did good indicating Sarah's 'probing' statements without arousing suspicion! I'm interesting in visiting this grave too!!

Kim: As I said to IB below, it's kinda weird as I know the page is passable enough but in my minds eye most of the panels looked so much more exciting until I drew them, so it's kind of a personal disappointment I guess. But it is only one page so I just prefer to not look at it for now! :)

Dear Sarah, I think your art work is very good and it does not at all show any sign of stress. If you do feel pressured, take some time off, we will understand. Sarah thinks Lucy never going to the funeral is suspicious. Some grave digger might tell Sarah the body was cremated and there is no body buried there. Maybe Laura is alive! Beautiful page color btw :) tommym

Tommym: I'm always telling others not to beat themselves up about their art and here I am doing the same!lol I guess we all have those pages we can't wait to see the back of and for me this is one of them! I like to keep going though as it means the pages I'm looking forward to are getting nearer and nearer. :)
