***THE AWARDS***
Firstly, I want to thank you guys for voting for us in the Duck awards again this year and to the judges for making those decisions too. We're a well estbalished comic here anyway so to be fair I try not to over publicise our own comic at voting times because as I've said before, we've had our fair share of truly wonderful awards in the past so it's nice to see others get their due recognition too. Even so it's still an amazing thrill to be congratulating others and then suddenly see your own comic title staring you in the face which is why I'm writing this now.
I was so pleased to see Moizmaid win ‘most deliciously offensive’ for her Riddick Q Loss comic. Mo's been in the business a long time and I felt so sure she would win this one that I urged her to enter this year.
Great to see Kim Luster sweep so many too and as some of you have noticed over the past couple of years we've come head to head on so many!!! But Kim puts so many hours into this place anyway with, commenting, community projects, presentations etc, I don't begrudge her a single win. I'm just SOOOOO glad she's got the ‘best completed’ out of the way because one thing I really didn't want to do was end up in a head to head on that! Kim would probably have felt obliged to saw the trophy in half - but I'm not so soft ;)
*** The Story ***
This is the moment Sarah digests Ron's testimony and tries to put herself in Laura's shoes which brings her to a rather disturbing conclusion. The question is, if Sarah's right and Laura did decide to come back…why didn't she? Find out next week ;)
Have a nice week ;)

Okay, now the question has to be: was it _just_ the aunt preventing Laura from going back, or was Ronnie involved as well? Still haven't giving up on the guy, but will wait and see what happens next

Ah I seee! hehe ;)
DarkVisor at 4:44AM, Jan. 19, 2018
It was a bad 'joke' about how Ronnie will turn out to be evil and it will be the end of Sarah
skyangel at 2:25AM, Jan. 19, 2018
DV: Not sure what I've said but the next page is not the final page by a long way so you can relax for now :)
DarkVisor at 5:15AM, Jan. 17, 2018
Next page is the final page? So soon? :(
skyangel at 12:27AM, Jan. 17, 2018
DV: You'll know next page for sure so I won't comment on that now. ;)
Phantomduck at 2:35PM, Jan. 13, 2018
Congratulations, you deserve it
skyangel at 12:26AM, Jan. 17, 2018
Phantom: Thanks :)

You see, I was right, a big wedding extravaganza with pomp and ceremony!
skyangel at 12:26AM, Jan. 17, 2018
Mo: You're always right! ;)
Infected Blood at 12:00PM, Jan. 13, 2018
And congrats again on the awards! Just felt like repeating that from the last page :)
Infected Blood at 11:59AM, Jan. 13, 2018
Those facial expressions are just awesome! And now I'm betting Lucy and Laura will get back together and Sarah will just step away. And I also fell like venturing to say that all three of them will be quite happy, in the end!
skyangel at 12:22AM, Jan. 17, 2018
IB: Thanks :) When I started the comic, one thing that saddened me most was a very negative attitude among teenagers who were LGBT because they were not only struggling with coming out but could also see no bright future ahead either and this was also reflected in many of the LGBT comics at the time. So it's always been my ambition to give every character a happy ending for that reason alone - apart from the bad guys! Having said that though, I still like to keep things 'real' so nobody will be walking into the happy ever after, just happy enough.

The skill with which Sarah's face is rendered is impressive. It's a long close-up (6 panels, with a little pull-back in panel 3) as she delivers a monologue, but each panel suggests a different emotional nuance in keeping with the text. This is how to make a talk-driven strip interesting.

Fred: Since the start of this comic, it's always been the facial expressions and body language that I've tried my hardest to capture as they play such an important part. I put a lot of thought into this page especially as it's all on Sarah's face. I'm still not happy with Sarah's mouth in panel 5 so it's hard to feel too proud of the page though.

Sarah's not only pretty, she's a smart one too!!! Yes, the DD Awards was quite pleasurable to me this year. Humble ol' me gets ecstatic when I get nominated for something, and down right euphoric should I win!! So I'm basking in it, but also staying humble. I went head to head with so many good comics (including this one, which I commented about prev. page, just before you put this page up, in case you didn't see...) that I would've just smiled and clapped if they'd won!! As Bravo keeps paraphrasing - Glory is fleeting!! Anyway, another well deserved congratulations for your story here! It touches so many emotions and is just a spectacular feast for the eyes!!
skyangel at 11:59PM, Jan. 16, 2018
Kim: One thing the awards taught me this year was that there are so many really good comics on here that I've never read! And it's hard to say something like 'well deserved' with sincerity when you have no idea what's gone into it. Ideally I'd like to have seen all the comics I follow get something because I know they all work so hard to keep their comics going. I've read your other comment now, and thanks for that too :)

Dear Sky, Congratulations to everyone winning awards! Why didn't Laura come down stairs to speak with Sarah. Was she scared of Ron? Did she fear giving back the money Ron gave her to stay away? tommym
skyangel at 11:50PM, Jan. 16, 2018
Tommym: Thanks :) Your question will be answered in next weeks page ;)

The old "lightbulb" moment. I just thought I'd look a 2nd time before bed - et voila! Totally on-time this week B-)
skyangel at 11:49PM, Jan. 16, 2018
Bear: Yes, we were! Hopefully we will be able to keep to schedule again now Christmas is behind us.
