Ep. 6 Page 17

The second panels shows Milo's four incarnations (the sun itself being the fourth), and I think I'm not giving away too much by mentioning that the plasma creature that plunged into the sun in ep.5 will continue to stick around. Coincidentally I read in the news today (June 11th) that our sun's unusually calm; usually it goes through an 11-year-cycle of activity, but right now its activity is lower than it should be according to that cycle.
DAJB: Thanks for pointing it out, I changed it. Concerning the sun, if it turns out that earth's temperature will decrease because of the sun's lower activity, then we should support global warming, right? :-)
Fitz: Did you miss the “Watch your head” sign? :-) As for the plasma guy, these are basically long-term developments I'm talking about; the next episode will definitely exclude him, but after that one of the next episodes is going to involve him again.
pato: Thanks a lot!
DAJB (again): I'm sure the German car industry would be more than happy about it.
Midge: Hmmmmyeah, I guess you could see it that way. But that would be a hardcore-materialist view, eh? I'm pretty sure that it's at least a controversial view, both from a non-reductionist POV (= mental aspects can't be conceptually reduced to plasma currents) as well as a reductionist view (= there are parts of us that aren't made of plasma, like teeth and bones and such). And even if you were to subscribe to it, I'd say there'd still be an obvious difference between some sort of artificial blob imitating neural patterns and us regular folks :-)
DryBonez: You didn't miss anything - there hasn't been said much about how Milo relates to the sun, except that the thing that runs on part of his neural patterns plunged into it. The only thing that's safe to say at this point would be that either the plasma merged with the rest of the sun's mass or it retained its original pattern. The latter obviously being more interesting… how it affects the sun will be revealed in a later episode. As for Naomi being frozen… that's what I wanted to establish as the major mystery over these first few episodes: how does Naomi relate to Park's experiments? Quick reminder: In the first episode they're looking for someone looking like Naomi in relation with Park's murder. In the second episode she winds up at Park's lab without any recollection of how she got there. The previous pages expanded a bit on Park, and I threw in some clues… but I can't reveal more about that at this point.
cda, trevoramueller, lit: Thanks!

o0 Milo's controlling the sun? Or did I miss something. Also They have her frozen before?

aren't we all just heaps of functionally structured plasma?

Response: Heh - makes sense to me. Get your greenhouse gases here! Buy one, get three free! ;-)

cool beans!

Don't get me started on identity/consciousness again ;) Last week, as a direct result of a head trauma, I lost consciousness for a bit and woke up completely confused about what happened, how I got to where I was and what day it was. And even now, a week later, I feel weird... Yay for the plasma guy appearing more often :D

Don't believe what they say about the sun. It's all a lie to persuade us that global warming is caused by discarded plastic bottles and the world can be saved if we recycle baked bean tins! By the way - unless you're using it in a very story-specific sense here, I think "fractions" sould be "factions". Oh, and ... trust no-one, Naomi!
