Ep. 7 Page 2

First off: The incredibly talented artist/storyteller patoborracho drew some great fanart for A.D, make sure to check it out (I guess by now you're all reading his comic Maya - The Legend of Wolf, and if not, it comes with my highest recommendation)!
And now for something completely different - my page comment:
Look Ma - no words!
This guy right here had a brief appearance in episode 5 on the orbiter (when it was struck by the Golem's core, and the ape died). If you look at ep. 5's cover, you can see I'd intended for this guy to play a bigger role - but in the end the episode was stuffed as it was. And I thought he deserved a bit more… space (as in, the steppes of Africa :P) and a thorough exposition.
And again, I've never drawn the steppes of Africa before, and yet again I didn't use any reference. I'm still not quite sure if that's artistic strength or weakness… it's better in the way that I can show you “the content of my mind” rather than the real landscape, but it's worse in the way that I might make stupid errors in portraying this, or portray it in an unrecognizable way.
REPLIES:
Fitz: I'm probably sick or something :-P Maybe I should do a whole issue without words… but preferrably a Bombshell issue. At the beach. And yes, you should definitely be looking forward to EGO… we've got two not-quite-human villains, and you bet they can take as much philosophy as our heroes are capable of dishing out :3
pato: So true. Thanks!
Midge: :-D
trevor: Thanks a lot!
Nepath: Thanks!
DAJB: Maybe you should try it yourself sometime ;-)

Pages without words? Blasphemy! Well, okay ... we'll allow them as long as you include a rhinoceros, but you must have one or the other. Words or rhinos! ;-)

Dramatic and good kinetic movement here.

That Rhino wants nothing to do with that guy!

no dialogue, sometimes the pictures tell us more than the words

A page with no dialogue, or a lenghty monologue, even? Buddy, have you been hung-over all last week? ;) LOL! Seriously, though, I have to try that myself, sometime. Though I have no idea how to do that, considering how I usually relate the text to the illustrations. Don't worry to much about portraying landscapes - artistic portrayals are usually said to be the depiction of the artist's state of mind rather than the portrayal of the actual place. We portray things the way we see it, not the way they really are. And thus we're back on the topic we discussed last time :) I'm thrilled to read HU: EGO - I'm guessing it'll be the first in the series where there will be more philosophy than kicks and punches, and the villains will die of brain overheating rather than blood loss ;)
