Anyway, the definition for the word schadenfreude is taking pleasure in the misfortunes of others, I admit a lot of CTV is inspired by that ^_^ (Especially the ones where Charby or Hex goes after someone who wronged me in a real life situation)

Sorry it's late, photoshop was being picky and a lot of times it was like “Nuh-uh, not gonna do it” to tasks that usually are a breeze. Also I was working on UIU at the same time (a lot of times I stagger them but I'm behind) so as soon as this loads, that should be up in a moment. Toodles!

Ah, good ol' schadenfreude... Being 50% German and proud of my heritage, having grown up watching cartoons in German, and having two family members who've actually been to Germany, one of whom speaks fluently and the other who speaks it well enough to carry on a conversation, I know what the word means, and it's a fun one.

@Sharxz: it's pronounced like "shodden-froyd". @NightReflection: It's related to sadism, as in the reason for it! That is to say, sadism is the act of causing pain, schadenfreude is the enjoyment of it. Separately, schadenfreude (epicaricacy is the English equivalent) is simply the joy of another's misfortune without having been the cause of it. Also, where sadism tends to have overt sexual connotations, schadenfreude is a lot less so. It's more a self-worth thing, suddenly feeling good and confident because someone else failed! Also, envy comes into play. When someone you envy fails, that's when smug ol' schadenfreude is likely to kick in! It's also, I bet, the reason that videos of people falling off skateboards and getting hit in the crotch by footballs are so popular on Youtube. "Look at that guy! Glad I'm not him!"

It probably looks weird because the twins are covering parts of the background, but I think what I had in mind is a short section in the wall were the candles are placed so they are out of the way of the hallway, so as not to burn Zerlocke's wings when he walks past them. i probably should have darkened the section on the right side so it was more obvious, though!

Schadenfreude, that's an interesting word. Also, the walls look rather strange in the last panel. It's as though the section of wall where the candles are only last 3 feet before it changes direction. That seems like weird house geometry.

Epicaricacy is an English word meaning the same thing as Shadenfreude. Epicaricacy isn't in most dictionaries though. Epicaricacy meaning 'pleasure taken from someone else's misfortune'

Schadenfreude is much like Deja Vu, it doesn't translate well into english. I really want to make up words in english to be synonyms for them. Shadfrad and Devu... Why not? Many english words are a bastardized foreign word.

Dachpappe=roofing cardboard. I can't think of an english word that translates into two words in german, but I am sure there are many. Shadenfreude=gloating.

Don't you have a word for schadenfreude in english? I've never thought of that. German is very close to Norwegian, so in my language it spells "skadefryd" directly translated it would probably mean hurt-joy or something like that ^^ Anyways the comic is great. Has Daray changed his hairdo?
