She's mostly hugging him like one would hug a cute animal, not a hot date :) She's enjoying his reaction far too much though. You think she likes making people uncomfortable? Yes, yes she does!

No, Yiska's not just saying that all to justify her teenaged-to-twenty-something self hugging on Phineas like that, the Merfolk in Kellwood do mature at a faster rate. (Fairies on the other hand mature slower) This is why it's particularly frustrating for Kavonn that Phineas's mom (Salti) still views him as a child. When he met her, they were both children. And in the few years they hung out together, she became a full mer-woman while Kavonn was mentally only in his teens. To her, Kavonn will always be her childhood friend, and to Kavonn…well, you know.
So while he's only 10 years old, to say this is the equivalent to a human is like saying a 3 year old cat is equivalent to a human toddler, which it's not. He's at the very least 16-17, which I'm sure explains a lot about him :)
Also, Yiska actually knows a few Merfolk at the Bureau, but that's another story for another day!

Now like vampires in this comic, it's only until they reach full adulthood that they stop maturing. Phineas is not going to be a gigantic hulking monster like his dad is though…
On the same page I introduced Salti, I established that Phineas got beat up and bullied a lot. One reason being that he is somewhat a freak among merfolk (he's got legs for one thing!) and he is also a runt. This is where Yiska's “late bloomer” comment comes in. And for the record, she's not really hitting on Phineas so much as purposefully making him feel awkward. She didn't realize, of course, he was trying to sneak her out of the house before the group noticed what was happening…but he couldn't resist making a perverted connotation to it, and she couldn't resist either! It's gonna be trouble if Kavonn doesn't get these guys to start working in sync with each other before he leaves…

As for those still waiting for prizes in the mail: It's been tough trying to get to the post office here, everything closes before Nick gets out of work and there's no way I can get there myself. So we have to scale back what things we mail out in the raffle until we get those done first. Things are mostly packaged up and ready to go, we just need the time and money to coincide at the same time ‘till we can send them! I promise, we will not forget! (as for my other promise, if I can get it done the 3rd page goes up Saturday)

The biggest problem is they keep Nick at work later and later but they still have a freeze on employees raises (it was like this last year too, and they’re laying people off as well) despite all the work they have him doing. So we only have Saturday to plan for the mailing out, and by the time the weekend comes we've spent what we had trying to float above our bills. We promise your generous donations didn't go to frivolities like games & fun stuff, just food and gasoline for going to work. In fact I actually get to eat lunch this week because they had a sale on cheap microwaveable stuff, and you helped us buy it :)

TWC vote update: It's some of the characters from the penultimate panel, Azelea, Charby and Mannick before they got shrunken down for the scene.
