Hello ev'rybahdy! Yep, that was a long wait that I regret, but some “complications” arose and I didn't have much time to work on this page, nor could I use my internet computer much these last couple weeks. Other than this being a little on the late side for the promised Thursday update thanks to my stupid internet failing to connect for no discernible reason last night when I finished this page, things have been a little stressful due to Nick being let go from his job due to another wave of layoffs. (it really sucks because he was putting in extra hours to get a raise and got the boot instead) But that's not my big announcement I was going to make, though it does relate to it a little!
We finally are finished with the comic, the origin tale of Tonius! Those who donated in the past are going to get a PDF sent to their email, do keep an eye out for it. The PDF will be for sale at DriveThru for $2.00, and we are considering a print run if there is enough interest. We are going to do a test copy first though to make sure it prints out right. We have all the past donators on record, but a few emails didn't go through due to perhaps a change in email address or some other error, so if you donated in the past, please contact us and we will send you the PDF you are entitled to (but please confirm your old email so we know who youse are!) at your new address. We want to thank you all for your generous donations in the past and present, every little bit has helped us get out of many tight situations. If the response to this positive, this will determine if we make another book and what direction we take with it, like if we do another origin story or whatnot. Also, TWC vote incentive today is the cover to the book if you want a look at it! (I just realized it was a little small so I just resized it!)
Now onto another thing, I am going to answer a question that Jackalopefan had about Mye and her magics :) The question is how come she's so bad without her wand, despite her age? Shouldn't she be at least competent by now? Good question! It has a little bit to do with things I haven't yet revealed, and some I have so I had to sort of think this one through to avoid spoiling things :) The best way I can describe it is like having a workshop full of power tools, and then having it taken away so you have to make everything by hand. If you're banging rocks together to make cutting blades your handiwork is going to be a little different than if you own a chainsaw! I might mention also that she proved to have a learning disability back when she was under the Master's thrall, as Hex mentioned to Charby. In his estimation she “doesn't have the luck” for it. Hex of course doesn't run into so many problems because he chose not to work with spells and potions as much as Mye does. He's more concerned with magic science! In short, Mye's wand was more like a magical crutch that fixed whatever problems she had with a flick.( It doesn't do everything, but it does enough!) Though I may also bring up despite her having many years of life, she doesn't remember much of it. A good thing to ponder on (but I won't give it away now!) is how long, exactly, was it until they got the better of the Master, and how long since have they been free, and for that matter, when did Hex finally give up and wipe her mind of the worst memories, probably taking a lot of her magical education along with it?

Trivia fight? Me? LOSE? A laughable claim indeed. This should count for something:

@Jackelopefan
Then we'd all best be donatin', eh?
I hope Amy can start getting comics drawn in an orderly fashion. This is the best comic out there, but Amy is never going to be at the top of Topwebcomics if she only updates once every two weeks. And its when she gets that kind of recognition that she will start being able to make better money off of this comic.
I picked up A Bird in the Hat, and it was sooooooooo good. Are you planning on continuing it, Amelius? Cause I think it could stand as a series of its own.
wow dont get in a ctv trivia fight with ka rin you'll get hurt. lol
i started re-rereading today and im not completely sure about the sleeping arrangement now. how many rooms are in this house? i know or can assume where everyone else sleeps except for fay foomy and azelea where do they sleep?
But Crispo has a sword now, so- ok yeah, realistically it wouldn't end happily for Crispo, but I don't want him getting hurt, so I'll just pretend his awesomeness is enough to subdue Flannigan. Denial is fun.
Ooh, googling Redcap gets some intereting results. I'm not sure what would be worse, Redcap or full grown dragon, ironically I am less informed about dragons now, but certainly, Crispo wouldn't last very long.
WHOA, now that was some dark humor thar! Hope Crispo never sees that office, I'm sure he'd have some choice words to say to that man behind the desk concerning his taste in decorations! XD
BTW, was Crispo working for Samrick even back when he was trying to elude Daray?
I had a bit of trouble downloading the pdf, so I haven't read it until now. Upon that I decided that this is one of the very rare special occasions when I feel like doing a review. :) So here it is:
...ahem...
"A Bird In The Hat is an outstanding backstory comic. The beautiful line art, that is clear and rich in detail at the same time, gives it a classic feel I instantly liked.
It has often been mentioned in the past by some self-proclaimed critics that Amy's art would only work because of her skills at digital colouring - undoubtedly one of her strongest points - well, I dare them to read that comic and say that again! Amy shows here that her line art can be very powerful on its own.
Especially as Tony happens to be one of my favourite characters, I was much interested in his background story and I wasn't disappointed. It manages to flesh his already very well designed character out even further in many ways. The short comic gives us a glimpse straight into Tony's soul without spoiling this aura of mystery that surrounds many if not all of of the characters in CTV, that I think is one of the things that gives it much of its charm. That's no mean feat in any background story. It is what makes A Bird In The Hat a must-have for all CTV fans!
A possible point for criticism could be the rather abrupt ending, even though I personally wouldn't stress that point too much. Considering the overall pacing of the story it seems a bit sudden with the bulk of the action taking place on the last few pages. At least it does so at first glance. However, the ending in itself is excellent. Also, it wouldn't do the story any good to add anything after that. The ending is obviously designed as a climax, and it works perfectly well as such.
There is only one point I have to criticise, and that is the rather large file size of nearly 80 MB - for comparison the 125 page pdf of Night School needs only 21 MB. People with more modern equipment than the relatively old machine I put up with might not notice, but it was a notable struggle for my computer when I read it. It probably isn't that troublesome if you're an avid gamer and have lots of RAM anyway, but I just had to mention it.
A Bird In The Hand is a wonderful extension to the CTV universe, as well as a neat piece of professional-looking art with a delightful classic tinge. If you don't have it yet, get it now at once!"
Quick question, I know a while back you said that Quixoto could see through his eye slits with his eyes were closed, can Kavonn and LaBelle do the same?
Loved the book by the way. Had to bug my mom for about an hour before she'd let me buy it^^
I really hope the other half of that dragon is on the opposite side of that wall!
Also, I hope I can get some time to get and read through that book (eBook?)! Not so much time lately...
This seems like a great idea, though! I hope it works well and is highly profitable for you!
i bought it. i bought so hard. i dont really buy stuff, and if it was for anything else i wouldnt have. but i loved it. and if you ever get the urge to do a side story, origin story or just an original story again go for it. cuz ill buy it and so will everyone else. i mean a bird in the hat is the #1 hottest item already.
but if you do decide to do another ctv origin story may i request some kavonn action maybe? he seems like hes got a lot of stories to tell since he cant keep his nose out of other peoples business he knows everyone in the forest. or mannick he hasnt we havent found out to much about his back story yet. though i am getting more and more curious about crispo. and tonys story isnt over really id like to see some gang stuff. now im just begging
I just bought your pdf!!! ^__^ Still downloading. Can't wait! I love Charby The Vampirate! Thoguh ironically I like Unlife is Unfair more. Fernando = ulter adorkable. |D YOU ROCK.

@jmegrl17 there's a house map lost somewhere on the forums. Don't ask me where though!

you could but you would lose.

Well, I can't argue with that.

Only fictional characters that don't exist in continuity can beat flannigan's stare of doom.

Even if Crispo were mad Flannigan is an adult redcap and therefore much more dangerous.
the1truesushiboy at 8:57PM, Feb. 16, 2011
@Ka_rin Yeah, but the only way to ensure he isn't mad anymore would be with nachos.
Ka_rin at 3:32AM, Feb. 16, 2011
@Warriorking: Flannigan would just stare Crispo down until he shuts up.
