You can tell by the moustache that it's a manticore, right? Because without it, it'd be a girlticore. Of course, no matter which -core you encounter, rubbing it up the wrong way will cause an explosive meltdown. And where did I get all this information? - From travelling the Pun-jab, of course.

Haha, that's good to hear because that's the goal! I took some influence on her design from the woodcut of the manticore in Edward Topsell's "The History of Four-footed Beasts", it was the most unsettling of the depictions I've seen and I wanted to capture those vibes a bit.

Idly curious how bad manticore poison is in setting? 'Feel weak and awful' or 'melt bones instantly'?

I would imagine liquid bones to still be nutritious, but would somewhat circumvent the need for rows of fangs. Ineed to remember to look at the whole of a creature, not just focus on one part.

It's instant-death venom, that only the largest of creatures can survive. Not melting bones though, since manticore's gotta eat! There's different types of manticores in setting as well, such as a sort that has quills on the tip of its tail which it flings like arrows.

Thank you so much, I looked at a lot of medieval bestiaries when I was designing her. I've only ever seen one instance where the manticore has 3 jaws like the classic ones, and that was the game Odin Sphere. I love that manticore design but I didn't want to copy it so I want for more shark-like!

It's been like a million years since I mentioned it, hehe. Though, I've yet to see a manticore that doesn't just sound like a lion, so it's really just mythology nerds like me who decide to use that, so it's not really common knowledge either.

Totally understand, as a lurker myself. Though mostly it's my anxiety that keeps me in lurk mode most of the time... or I just haven't made accounts on other sites where some of my faves are, hah...
