This is the fourth part of filler art this week, spotlighting some of the opponents of the main heroes, the group we call the Doppelganger Gang. These are some character studies I did for the others. If you want to see the huge montage Red Death did of practically every character in CROSSOVERLORD and so far in CROSSOVERKILL, either use the “previous” button several times, or go to BAD GUY HIGH.
These are three studies, by myself, of Chant, Firearm and Vector. Chant's from the reality shown in the fantasy webcomic TALES OF THE TRAVELLING GNOME. Those three colored amulets he wears are important, and there is a story about them, and an origin for Chant, already drawn, which will be used in late spring or early summer. Like a monk of the Middle Ages, the top of his head is shaven. He's the Baron Mordo of the group, and his skeletal hand–NOT shared by the others–has to do with his sorcerous specialty.
Firearm is also Lt. Cecilia Frost, a police homicide detective who moonlights as an assassin. Unlike Suki and Night Carver, who are murderous sociopaths who get off on the act of killing or inflicting pain, Firearm is all business. She's the Deathstroke or Deadshot or Bullseye of the group, a professional assassin, sniper, and shootist, at home with almost any firearm. She may be native to the reality of Energize, Dasien, Heroes Unite, and Heroes Alliance—she certainly has a good cover identity there.
Vector is the more science-fictional, space-opera-ish of the group. You'll see something of his base of operations in the next chapter. He's able to deflect and channel bursts of energy thrown his way, a sort of cross between Unus the Untouchable and the Parasite in power and a bit of Darth Vadar in methodology. For the first time, you see him without his helmet. When you look at him…and perhaps look at Dr. Samson Frost, another member of the Gang, who appeared in a Mindmistress story…you might get a clue to the name of their group.
Tomorrow, we're hoping to show the cover of the next chapter.
Crumbs. Oh, well...look,, Neil, who's coloring the cover, got unexpectedly called away, and probably won't finish this till Five or six ish in the evening tonight. Will upload as soon as we have it.

A really awesome cover for the second chapter is on its way, but Neil's finishing the coloring, so we'll put it up as soon as its finished, hopefully later this morning. Trust me, it'll be worth waiting for!
I didn't say she was exactly like all of them---in abilities, she's in Deadshot, Deathstroke's, or Bullseye's league. In attitude, he's much more Deadshot or Deathstroke.
As for the backpack---she has a variety of weapons. Some are air-pressure-driven, for silence. Also, although she doesn't use flames, she sometimes uses gases. Mostly firearms, though, hence the name.
...yeah OK Deathstrke and Deadshot are super focused, but Bullseye is CRAZY to the point that he tried to assasinate Venom with a yap-dog throw into his left eye. Of course, if he had his way, he'd kill EVERYONE. Yeah, he's Joker Crazy.
that's interesting, I presumed that was a gasoline tank on her back... so what's up with the tubes connecting her guns to it? (everyone else, don't mind us while we have a team meeting here!)
And although Firearm has a firemotif in her costume, she's NOT a pyromaniac--she's like Deadshot, or Bullseye, an expert with firearms but she settles things with a bullet, not with a blowtorch. But as I said, it's an understandable mistake.
That was "Firebomb" - with flame throwing wrist things as opposed to flame throwing pistol things... but I can see why you'd think they were the same as the costume, name and pyromaniac tendencies appear to be very similar - only the gender and their reality of origin are major differences. Must be why they're doppelgangers! In this instance their dimensional differentiation is much less than say between Chant and Suki (for example)... what all of that may, or may not, ultimately mean is yet to be revealed!
That was FireBOMB in the Fusion sequence, GodofWar, but the confusion is certainly understandable, considering how close their names were. Firebomb's more of an arsonist/incindienary specialist, and he's the Ganger from Fusion's reality. Firearm appeared before in trying to recruit Energize and later contacting Heroes Unite in her civilian identity of homicide detective Cecilia Frost.
Interesting, I don't think I've seen Vector without his helmet before. These conceptual art pages are more useful than I imagined! :D
Also, I really like that action shot of Firearm... we definitely need to use her a bit more in the story...!

I think Vector looks cool, maybe it's the attitude you portray in his drawing

Do flamethrowers count as a type of firearm? She could use them if they are.

So, the male Firearm we seen in Fusion world was male version of this Firearm? Or did I read those pages thinking she was a man?
Neilsama at 11:42PM, March 23, 2011
What's your vector, Victor?
Crash Platypus at 10:32PM, March 23, 2011
Well, that answers that question. I've wanted to ask it for a long while, but never had the nerve. I was enjoying the story too much!
