You know something? I really like The Red Mage. I started a play through with 4 red mages on the classic version of Final Fantasy. I used to love Red Mage even though he tended to get weaker towards the end due to him missing out on all the highest level equipment and spells he was still very strong and useful. It has there for very much bothered me that almost every game since has massively dropped the usefulness of Red Mage to a weak and forgetable support class. Now I suppose you could argue this was always supposed to be the case but he just got lucky due to the Intelligence Bug in FFI but I don't care. FFI was very heavily taken from classic D&D but one of the few changes they made was replacing the always lack luster “bard” with Red Mage (though I'd say his stylish hat is a hint at his origins) and I personally think it was a vast improvment. I even visually based one of my more obscure characters well ment but little used boy mage Frey Von Skyler. However in looking up some tips for an all Red Mage part I must say I'm highly disapointed to see what has become of dear Red Mage, particularly in the MMOFFXI. I fear I may need to do something in the near future to at least attemp to correct the fan community's current impression of red mages as either dany fops or fetishized bunny girls. Yes I'm look at you Viera. No offense met to DD's own Jilly Foo.
