Hmm... The writing on this series has made some changes to it's style, two honestly randy comments in consecutive pages? Also, if this is the case, with Kal and where he came from, then how does he get that chest tat? I mean, is his being the 'EL' because of C3K's supernatural influence? OR... will there be another explanation? This could be an interesting bit of storytelling...

I think you missed "When Bosley Met Echo" which is all sweetenss, no below-the-waist dampness. Yup, this Anime/Disney-style run are all flashbacks to "in the margins" kind of stories, and they are intentionally saucier that the standard serialized story. The regular series hasn't changed its style or course. Kal's origin is laid out in episode Born this Way (linked below) and doesn't bump with this current episode at all.
