Due East - Book 4 Page 9

Here's part two of the “flash forward” scene with Brielle in the present. I hope you enjoy it. It was kind of tough to get the “mood” and the lighting the way I wanted but I'm pleased with the results. For Brielle, like anyone, it's not always easy facing the past…
And without further adieu, replies to last page's comments:
usedbooks: Thanks. Yes, Brielle has been quite reflective lately and she has had quite a bit of that annoying “alone time.” Here's hoping she uses it to a good end. :)
blntmaker: Yes, Brielle has regrets and this issue will show how she deals with them. Thanks for the compliment.
DAJB: Thanks. I'm really glad it was worth the wait for you.
TitanOne: Thank you very much!
Tantz Aerine: Thanks. Oh, what she does is going to be interesting indeed, but you'll have to wait just a bit to see what it is.
trevoramueller: Thanks for the 5!
JustNoPoint: I think it's safe to say Phira remembers the moment, but I'm sure she's long since forgiven her by now.
pinkertonpark: Thanks.
Molly Loves The KLF: I'm sure they'd both appreciate the hug. Thanks! :)

Love your art. And, man, I hope she feels better. You have a very cinematic style, and it shows through in this page...

One has to wonder how many nights she's tossed and turned due to thinking these same things. The breakthrough will be when she finally does something about it! Lovely emotional page!

I like that you lightened up the shading a bit on your color pages - in the past, I've found it to be quite dark. This is a good mixture of moodiness but not too much shadow. As for the writing, this may be a turning point in this character's life....?

Sometimes our emotions push us in directions we don't normally want to go in. But it's good that Brielle is admitting to her mistakes, cuz then she won't make them again. Its more than what most people do which is push it to the back of their minds and ignore it. And Brielle is a nice person- her being a strong support for Carolyn proves this!! :D Go on Brielle, girl, ya know you can turn your life around!

She felt better when helping Caroline because a) she did want to help because she's a positive person and b) because it took attention away from what was vexing her. I don't think it was wrong that she pondered on what had happened with her dad and Phira. What was wrong was that she didn't seek out those who can really help. Of course, those aren't easy to come by either and many times you end up getting quacks. :/

Self-awareness can be painful ... Fortunately it doesn't often last for very long! ;-)
blntmaker at 11:25PM, Feb. 17, 2008
If ever there was a time to so self-reflect, the time you self-reflect about "wasting time" by being resentful is the worst of them all! Especially when it comes to family. We all must grow up and take a hard look at that...especially from a spiritual stand point - like what all that ugliness does to your soul over time. Very emotional art - nicely done.

The reason people help is so she can feel even worse about herself. XD Seriously, though, to recognize one has a "victim complex" is definitely a step in the right direction. Now she just has to stop moping and do something about it.
