This page drawn by Ed Bangalan. Read the companion comic FIGHT 1; each story follows a different group of characters in the same world.
Hanno and Amok are not gonna beat around the bush on letting us know exactly why they're interested in this particular prey.
I had a flashback scene scripted where Nuada remembers how Hanno had raped and beaten a previous victim and then left her for dead on the mountain. I wanted to show Hanno's brutality and Nuada's cowardly complicity. It didn't go over well with Ed and a writer acquaintance; they felt that the scene was unnecessary and unnecessarily violent. In hindsight they're prolly right. Even without that flashback scene, the pair's viciousness and horrible intentions will be evident in this chapter.
I didn't want “take over the city” type of large-scale cartoon evil for this arc; it's about real world intimate evil.
So even though I didn't draw it, just know that it happened.

Linking to TVtropes is evil and wrong! There are only so many hours in the day, you know :]

Alluding to someone's vileness sometimes is more horrific than actually telling them exactly how vile they really are. Most readers are sickos at heart, I count myself in that arena, and when it comes to thinking of what someone could have done that made them be so vile in the eyes of others I have no problem coming up with probable scenarios.

LOL, yeah I'm glad I have editors. Assuming this makes no one a moron except myself. In fact, I prolly should go back to a couple of spots in the future script to make things not so anvilicious... @ EEN: -Yes she slept in most of her armor. -It'll come up later. -Various degrees. Earlier, Nuada revealed that he's been wandering for weeks, and implied that ppl may not have woken up/ appeared at the exact same time.

I think it was a good idea to leave out the rape scene. We can tell he's a bad guy, it would have slowed things down and also made it come across a bit too strongly that you're trying to show how evil he is, like the Battle Royale manga (in which, not content with the bad guys making gameshows where kids kill each other like in the film, they felt it necessary to make them rape the parents of main characters and stuff too, just so they were more evil).

If Chase slept in her armor she is going to be real stiff. I'm glad you left out the flashback, though I'm currious now who they would have met and killed off in the past. I think at this particular moment it would have slowed down the story. I wonder how aware they all are of their abilities. Hmm the middle panel looks good but I think there a little to much black with the trees. It looses some of the excellent contrast between the hulkin dark figure on the left and the white camp where Chase is on the right.

@JNP: That thing in the middle panel would be Amok, sneaking thru the woods. You're looking at his arm. Guess he kinda blends in because he's wearing that fur pelt. Then again, that's why he wears it.

Looks like something metallic in the background of the middle panel... The way Ed drew the close up of Nuada's face in the last panel is right on! And I think Nuada should worry more about Hanno if he meets Chase =D

I like the first panel. The knife is under his nose..
