Story Notes:
And so, Ruun tries to talk himself onto the starship. Dante explains a bit about the ship and gives an ultimatum or two. And you get to see a bit of family.
Development notes:
I don't like some of the expressions on this page. I knew what I wanted, but couldn't get the characters faces to look right. After a while, I decided I had to stop, let go and move on. I like how intense Uncle Fred's portrait turned out.
I have been re reading Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. Love that book. Anyway, one of the things he points out, is when the text is dominating the page, the graphics can get more daring. In the forum section, I've got the evolution of this page as I applied this. The third panel was of the two talking and evolved into the family photos. The 4th panel, lost it's border and changed it's focus.

Reply to D0m - We all know Ruun has to join the ship, after all, the story would end kind of abruptly if he didn't. But Captain Dante would have said that, he doesn't want a disruptive crew.
You made me laugh with your freudian typing. I can read that to have a double meaning.“…a 20 year old who just got told he could hop on a spaceship crew”. Well, at least a couple, but only off camera! My plan is that Ruun's going to have the Captian Kirk syndrome. He's going to try to get all the green dancing men.
As far as going full color, I have to become MUCH better at coloring before I go full color. This is a strong page without color. If the characters had greys this would almost perfect. 
I wished that I had not designed the cool paint that all the characters have, and I would drop the color and go full grey scale.
Viceroy - Greyscale has it's appeal. Would the Maltese Falcon or Citizen Kane or Shindler's List be as good in Technicolor?
How will Ruun be on a gay starship? Like a young gay man in his first gay bar. Like a kid in a candy store but also not sure of the rules of the new game.

Thanks for the advice to take the family photos. I added them at the last minute and my script didn't reflect that. Taking them will be a great element when he leaves.

I like the reworked look on Ruun's face. He looks less stunned and more enthusiastic! Glad you liked the idea of the family photos. Now ... were we supposed to notice that Ruun seems to have the exact same paint as his uncle?

Somehow, I don't think this news is going to deter Ruun from getting on the spaceship, hehe. ;) Anyway, the page looks great as always! My only nitpick (the expression in panel 4) has been covered, so I'll just say that Dante's face in the last panel made me smile. The little dot eyes are cute, heehee.

Damn. I step away for a minute and... I think the face in 4 is good...but maybe if the eyebrows were a little raised. not specifically higher, like oh my god-shocked!...but...just higher in the center of the face. I think the look might've come across good. Amazing work as always, though. I have no complaints.

I loved the shot of the family photos, and I hope Ruun will take them with him when he goes. He's got to carry something of the family with him, I think. I can see what you're saying about the facial expressions. I'm sure you were going for a "speechless" look on Ruun in panel four, but he actually just looks depressed to me. Looking forward to the next page!
