Frogman on March 15, 2008
This is now officially the longest Frogman origin comic I've ever made. Hooray!
I think this page flows pretty well. Panel 7 is my favourite for 2 reasons. 1) He says he has to go read comics just after saying how busy he is with VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education - I think it's similar to SATs in America). 2) It reminds me of how my frog Charlie used to eat, cramming stuff in his mouth with his hands.
I have decided to take next week off (maybe the week after as well). I really need to get my online folio up and running, and I seem to be spending all my time on Frogman and Ultimate X. So I hope you understand.
In the mean time to tide you over, enjoy this look at my last attempt at a Frogman origin story and compare it to the current one to see how much I have improved.

That's a lot of hair detail on Peter. Nice job. Love the motions of Frogman in your early one. Very fluid, and loose like an actual frog. I look forward to seeing him in action these days.

shisno15 - Cheers, I prefer this origin too. The last one was made in 2003, during my own VCE study time. It was my main piece for art class. jkarguth - Thanks man, that means a lot to me that you think it's worth the wait. I hope you enjoy Ultimate X too. It's a different tone to Frogman, more emphasis on the humour. There's a super condensed version of the Frogman origin floating around in there somewhere too. Locoma - Oh yeah, Comic Sans... the embarrassment... For this origin I thought it was too cliché to jump into a big fight scene then go back and explain the actual origin in a flashback. rdnetto - Cool, what part of Victoria? I think being a local, you'll probably get more out of Frogman than say someone who lives outside Australia. And yeah *slaps forehead* I should have just gave your explanation for VCE. Androoo - Lettuce actually. There's probably some ham in there too. Peter Miller is one healthy scientist! :D

What is that, a spinach sandwich?

Great job on this comic! I also live in Victoria, and the best way to explain the VCE is as the last years of secondary school (i.e. Yr 11 and 12).

haha yeah we all had that time in which we used Comic Sans and thought it was a cool font :P You know, I love the shadings of the previous attempt too. It's less subtle but it works! I like the contrast. I find this intro more interesting cause we start with the real origin instead of the classic "rescue" scene

Well, I say your stuff is worth the wait. And it gives me the chance to check out Ultimate X, didn't even know you were doing that.

The way this page flows is awesome. Good work. And I must say this origin is a lot more in depth then the last Frogman story.
