Welcome back, Gospel Chums!

Today's page needs a special note! People accept Christ by faith and repentance, but how this happens can be in different ways. You don't need to feel moved spiritually or emotionally. Some people accept Christ based on pure facts and reason. But some are emotional over their sins and thrust themselves at God's mercy. Yet some, like June Walsh above, do have a supernatural experience. In 2009 my wife Mandie experienced God in such a way in which, despite her being in church her whole life, God's Spirit moved her or spoke to her to let her know she actually wasn't saved and that she needed to accept Him. I myself thrust myself in tears and repentance at God's mercy in 1999 when I accepted Christ. But it was later in 2002 on September 3rd, a Tuesday, at about 10:45 AM that, with 15 or so witnesses in the Union Grove Baptist Church sanctuary, I felt God's presence come over me like a paper weight. I began crying uncontrollably. I heard a voice say, “I am the Lord your God. You will be My missionary. You serve Me.” I felt as if He was waiting for an answer, so knowing one does not say no to the Creator of the universe, I said yes. Immediately I regained myself and stopped crying, His heavy presence lifting from me. It actually scared me so much that I tried to convince myself it was an hallucination, but I couldn't accept it was anything but real. Still, I ran away into atheism for a few months because I didn't want to be a missionary, I wanted to be a cartoonist. I obviously came back - in 2003 to be exact - and today I'm using my talents to serve Him, but that's another story entirely. My point is that this is what is happening in the above comic. I feel it must be rare but it actually does happen to people sometimes. But no matter how a person comes to accept Christ as Savior, two things remain consistent - they all experience faith in Christ and repentance, that is, the inner decision to turn from sin. Anyway… Stay tuned for what happens next!
