snorkel! snorkel! snorkel!

snorkel is one of my all-time favorite words in the world. It's right up there with schmuck, ( Which is a bad word, so don't go yelling it in public places. ) dingo, and spiel. I know everyone has their personal favorites, but I happen to like snorkel just for it's wide variety of uses. It makes the perfect pointless sound effect for critters and does a wide variety of other fun things other words can't. So while I was sitting calmly in my local coffee shop, ( I was there for the bookstore myself. ) quietly repeating the word snorkel to myself while doing some writing ( I'm sure I scared a few people, but I wouldn't have noticed, I was busy. ) I decided to just make a comic of the idea. So I made a quick sketch in my note book and then made one of the dumbest choices of the day. I decided, rather than sketch it out and do my inking by hand like normal, I'd see if doing a comic entirely digitally would be a good idea for me. And I have conclusively proven that it is not a good idea. What normally would have taken me ten minutes by hand, suddenly mutated into a horrible long and overly complicated process. I think my computer is going to try and strangle me in my sleep tonight. Because I used the “undo” button more than anything else ( I just couldn't get those damn ellipses for the top and bottom of the mug right. ) and I made my computer think. It doesn't like that. And so now, after 2 hours ( my usual average for a comic with a background. ) of cursing, screaming and fuming ( That was just the computer. I was sitting there poking my brain trying to get it to work again. ) I finally managed to finish it. So it was a definite learning experience, since I've discovered a few places I can save time and make things look better, and I have a bit more appreciation for the folks who do it the digital way. I'll stick with my pens though. The worst they do for revenge is to draw things on my arms and face.
