Pthomar Trouble - Page 11

Doing a story comic only two days a week, one of the things I try to do is give a lot of “bang for your buck.” That is to say, I try to say a fair amount each page to give people something worth reading…
And yet, here's a splash page (and a mere six words of dialog)! In my defense I knew this page had to be a splash long before I had ever decided to deliver this comic on the web, much less know how often I planned to post. So while these are few and far between, I've tried to make it as dynamic as possible, and really, for its brevity, I think this page says a lot!
Moving right along….

DAJB - Good thoughts. Shades is always worth reading! Jabali, legacyhero, we ll see - Thanks for the kind words! pinkertonpark - Welcome... must be an odd page to jump in on! jazzcop - Didn't see that coming? There's more! Iba - You? Strange? Never! But I agree with you. When I'm busting out 6-9 panel pages regularly, this really stands out, which is what I was going for. Plus it really serves the impact of the moment! always1961 - Its the thought that counts, thanks! Thanks again, everybody... tomorrow: something NEW!

Call me strange, but a lot of times I actually find myself liking splash pages. Because so many people avoid them you don't see them often and they're a nice change of pace once in a while.

Solid inks and strong perspective. This page doesn't need anymore!

Dude I really dig this page. I my opinion splash pages have their time and place and this one is well placed.

Ha! I know what you mean. I tried to design Shades around the idea that it would have no splash pages at all, except for the first page of each chapter. These were essentially scene-setters and, even then, I tried to include enough text to give the reader "something worth reading". Welcome, kindred spirit!
