Pthomar Trouble - Page 20
mattchee on July 2, 2008
having some image trouble, hopefully this page displays as planned!
Anyhow, assuming it does, we've learned a little more about D, as we'll see more of her character in the months to come here. And introducing Ash, who is, for me anyway (if not in Mastorism U), a brand new Mastor. So that's kinda cool. The original incarnation of Mastorism was pretty low on female characters, so she's a welcome addition.
NEXT WEEK: Chapter One ends! We check in with John John… and learn of even more trouble in the Universe! Stay tuned!!! (y'know… with those knobs on your uhm… computer… yeah… say has anyone had to adjust their vertical hold lately?)
***Update*** Fellow Drunk Duck comickers… if you haven't read the post in the forums yet, and are experiencing problems with your custom navigational graphics (as I was)– Usedbooks found a good work around… in your html, change the url for you custom images from:
http://www.drunkduck.com/comic_name/gfx/file_name
to
http://comics.drunkduck.com/comic_name/gfx/file_name
Depending on what template you're working from you might just have something like “gfx/file_name” If so, replace it with the WHOLE url above. This will fix any custom graphics you have linked on your page… unfortunately there are still some other issues going on, but at least your comic can be navigated…..
Just trying to help… Credit for that find totally goes to Usedbooks!

I'm running late this week, so I'll hit these rather quick, hopefully no one minds! DAJB - D's accepted her place, but certainly years for more. As far as the DD stuff goes, loss of those images, particularly nav graphics, is a huge hinderance to the functionality of a comic... I was just trying to do my part to help! jazzcop - Someone could probably write a huge psychological rundown as to why we would have been focused more on male characters, and put so little effort into female characters... I'm thinking that it would be somewhere in the realm of escapism, and identifying with altruistic male role models, blah blah blah... I'm sure if we had place more importance on female characters we would have put more effort into learning how to draw them properly! Actually, re-discovering the universe as an adult, I was shocked at how non-feminine the comic was, and how I had no female characters to write. So, I added Ash, and we'll see plenty of other females added to the cast as well (one of which was hinted toward on the back of Explosion Proof #3). Jabali - I could introduce you! Iba - Absolutely! I liken it to Rouge of the X-Men, who can't touch anybody... there's workarounds... so... we'll see what's in store for D. We ll See - we'll see! always1961 - seems like it could be useful in certain cases, doesn't it? Lemniskate - Its an outside view versus and inside view, in a way. The observations of the Destonians (not to mention their own cultural perspectives, though they are known to be a fairly objective group of beings), are bound to be different than the experience had by a Mastor. Who's right? One? Both? Neither? that's the whole point of the story here! Thanks for reading! And, man, the Pthomar have quite a following! I'm definitely keeping them involved in the story. croxtonhas - thanks for stopping by!

Somehow the whole Mastor organisation seems to be very casual. I expected something more... oppressive, inhumane, kinda like that, from the description the destonians gave. But I like the design of the Pthomar guys!

Powers to kill.... will they need D?

I think there could be some changes in the offing for D--can't wait to find out!!

Well, when you have a bad habit of potentially stopping people's breathing it probably doesn't endear you to those you're trying to help.

I like the short haired brunette.
jazzcop at 7:57AM, July 3, 2008
Funny...you'd think 2 prepubescent boys would be REALLY good at drawing females, not the opposite.
DAJB at 12:44AM, July 3, 2008
Cool. Looks like D could be an interesting character ... just imagine the lack of job satisfaction there! Thanks for the heads up on gfx solution ... The images on my comic have just gone completely haywire, so I'll definitely be looking into that later!
