Distress - Page 30

For some reason this has been a tough page for me to articulate a comment for! This is about my fifth attempt, and I'm about ready to abandon all hope and talk about something else altogether!
What I can say is that John John is one of my favorite characters to write. While he fits the usual tough-guy loner archetype, he's also very nuanced and complex. It might not be so evident now, but I'm hoping that when all is said an done, way way down the line, people can go back to pages like this one and say.. “Oh!”
For now this page serves the more overt purpose of getting John off of Wog'Kee'Lo and establishing his semi-alliance with Nightblud. These two are couple of guys who have been at it for some time, and have come to respect each other as, dare I say, friends….
It must be a shoulder pad/sunglasses thing!
Anyway, I've sent Ash all your regards from Tuesday, and we'll see more (2 pages!) of her next week (not to mention our mysterious bad guy, and…. yep! A another “new” character!).
So thanks for stopping by, and I'll see y'all next week! Woo!

japlander - Thanks! I love me my thick heavy inks (and yours too). DAJB - For one, just typing your initials I have to wonder how many times i've responded to "DJAB." I catch myself doing that quite a bit, so I must NOT catch myself sometimes... sorry. Anyway, thanks, and yeah, I guess they wouldn't call it "character development" if it happened instantly! pintertonpark - Thanks and thanks for checking in! Hope you enjoy! Jabali- Thanks! Sorry to hear about your firefox woes, by the way. I think too, for me, the big picture of John John (and maybe it feels this way now more than it did when it happened) was page 8. Its become clear that Jefe and John have, for a long time, not exactly been buddies, but despite everything, John clearly draws a line that he will not cross. Iba - Yes, all that and without revealing too much. jazzcop - Neither can I, pal. Neither can I. always1961 - ME TOO! We ll See - Yep.. its a bit off, but I am hoping its well worth the wait. Ivy - I can't wait for next week either... We're going back to the distant moon of Ogom-9 to further explore Ash's predicament, and meeting on of my favorite Mastorism characters (okay, they're all favorites)... should be fun.... Okay, gotta run guys... Matters of universal consequence!

It can be tough to think of something to talk about and get it out the way you want it to come across.

Great page. You know... with this page I totally understand the complexity the Jefe character. Jfe might look and act sometimes like a loner or a loose canon but on this page I can get a glimpse of how he feels about his brother and the complexity of their family relation. Jefe cares for his brother. Is not explicitly shown here but somehow it's imply.

Nice look. Interesting storyline too. I'll have to dig into the archives a bit.

You're preaching to the converted on the old nuanced character thing! With all my characters, I was very aware that - on first meeting - they could (and would!) all be taken for sterotypes and only readers who stayed the course would get to see their more fully rounded aspects. Don't worry - we're willing to wait for John!

This page seems like it would have been a royal pain to get right! Did a good job! I am drawn to your thick black, yet still clean lines!!!
