Argh! The metre!

I know it worked at some point nevertheless, because I kept speaking all the lines aloud to myself a zillion times, until my neighbours thought I'd finally gone off my rocker for good. I always approach poetry as if it were a kind of music, and I remember I did have some kind of tune in mind. Still, I'm not above stretching the rules a bit in places if I feel it serves the story.
