I’ve always admired the skill some comic artist have display when the can carry two bits of business in the same strip. Walt Kelly was one the true masters of this. He always had little bugs or frogs kind of tucked away in the corners of this panels doing basically there own thing while the main characters did there’s. Sometimes they would interact with the main joke and sometimes they were a self contained subjoke to themselves. The bit with the Imp is my own humble attempt with this shtick.
