Here comes Anti-Chum!
SteveMyers22 on Nov. 22, 2007
Here's a super special sneak peek at the villain I've been hyping all month: The Anti-Chum.
Older chum-fans might notice his costume has undergone a slight redesign. And really hardcore chum-fans (like maybe two people out there, hah) might notice the color scheme has changed. Most of Anti-Chum's appearances in the past have taken place in black and white. And I've never been happy with the colors I used when I did color him (the last setup was orange and purple, and that was not working for me). So I tweaked the costume to make it a bit more streamlined. And then went with the color scheme of black and white to emphasize his role in the book as well as his demeanor. With just a touch of red on the anti-smiley symbol on his chest.
I like the look. It incorporates the strength of the previous looks, while finally making the character stand out the way I always wanted him to.
And just in time, because this upcoming chapter is a doozy! There's going to be psychadelic dreams of prophecy, super hero hygiene tips, the Hall of Friendship from the inside, a brand new sport invented by me for mass consumption by the U.S., chia pet punchlines, rants on customer service, and a whole lot of rampaging as the full fury of the anti-chum is unleashed on suburbs!

our comics are kind of similar in that they are both superhero parodys. i'm actually happy about superteam being grouped with superchum. i love your art style and sense of humor. it works really well for parody.

@ KAM and ShinGen: Thanks for the good ratings and kind words. And thanks for the fave. @ Leminskate: I kind of was worred that the yin-yang would be too obvious, heh. In the long run the symbols will begin to sort themselves out. But you'll the see the yin yang again very soon (like the very next drawing). @SPC: Thanks. Dark and evil is definitely what I'm going for. @ Midge: Thanks again for your continued support man. I really appreciate it. @ Just No Point: Yellow smiley and yellow frowney are a fave of mine. @ Bongotezz: I was just surfing the forums in the advertising section and found someone referred to Amazing Superteam being in the same vein as Superchum. How freakin crazy is that? Heh. The reason Amazing Superteam was one of my first faves is because of how much I like your humor and how awesome I found your storytelling. @ mondofunky: Thanks a bunch! @ Kyupol: I hadn't noticed that he might look short. He's not supposed to be really big or short. Just thick and muscular. He's got a lot of rage and thus a lot of energy and power, so I wanted to draw him a bit thick.

is he suppose to be short? The proportions look like he's like 5 feet tall or something. HOORAY for short heroes!!!

He certainly looks dark and evil this way.
Lemniskate at 2:44AM, Nov. 23, 2007
Great character design. I love the way you use symbols in the background which are not obvious, here the Yin-Yang. Very fitting.
ShinGen at 2:15AM, Nov. 23, 2007
