Happy Valentine's Day! This page was brought to you by means of GIMP, since my old 'puter gave up the ghost last week and I had to buy a new machine with Windows 7. Getting a functional scanner driver was trouble enough without fighting with an old version of PhotoShop, so I just downloaded GIMP and got to work. Has some small tablet issues and not so much control over lettering styles, though.

The problem was that a lot of my old legacy software is too old (or almost) for the new system, an Acer dual core with Windows 7 x64. I finally loaded my legacy PS on it, but the layout program I was using to arrange the pages for the print edition is too old to run on it. I can't afford to replace it, so I'll just have to load it on the laptop I have that still runs on XP. The next book is going to have to be laid out with some other program.

I thought the page looked a little different, but I couldn't put my finger on it! The GIMP is pretty nice, and most importantly free, but it does have its quirks and limitations, like any program, especially when you are used to using something else. R.I.P. to your old computer, and I hope your new one starts being more reasonable!

Great page. Wowee a lot of work to get that box in panel 3 to look hyper real. Terrific!
