Epilogue 4

Just got back from New Orleans!! I drank a bit and won some beads!! haha…
On pages 301-305, Kimber Lee encountered a pack of wolves during her ‘dream odyssey’. I didn't reveal it at the time, but in the dream she really did confront everyone else she'd given a shard of the Godstrain too, and that included The Wolf (who is the ‘mysterious 4th’ and it had by then started creating its Pack-strain). In the dream, she overcame challenges from Socorro, Eli, and Jack Caleb (although no one knows about him, save Kimber Lee), but she really just escaped the wolves. While that could be interpreted as a victory, it could also have been an incomplete confrontation, a temporary reprieve, something Socorro noted on page 305.
Anyway, I'll let that be open to interpretation…
One more page left in the Epilogue, then, sometime after the DD Awards I will start my new project, which I think will be a surprise. I'll probably put up a few more ‘teaser’ art pages in my Godstrain Extras comic until then!
What does everyone think of this ‘Illustrated Novel’ format? Is it something you'd be interested in seeing used for a full project?

I had a sudden urge to look in and see what you have been up to since the comic finished hehe and this new idea of yours is very interesting. I've always felt the hardest conflict for any writer/artist is which side of the slash works best for their stories. Art makes it very easy to depict scenery and dramatic action but constricts space for text, whereas text alone allows much more room for long dialogues and other details so what you are toying with here does seem like an excellent balance to me. You have the following too so I'm sure they will be just as enthusiastic as they always have been!

Hey Sky, thanks!! Yeah, I may give this format a try (still wrasslin' with it) but, I think there should always be a least 50% or more art on the page, if I'm gonna put it on a site like this. These pages don't really have 50% art so... I'm gonna experiment some more... As well as making the text sort blend in with the art more...!!

Do you actually think anyone would be honest enough to express dislike? I'd like more drawings, you know like Roald Dahl did with the text wrapping around a more dynamic illustration. Layout and text wrapping kind of stuff.

Tabs and text boxes in MS Word, dedicated page layout software like Quark. You can even do it in Photoshop but the text editing tools there leave a lot to be desired.

Hehe I knew you would!! ;) And this Epilogue is an experiment. I agree the drawings need to kick more (this is still a webcomic site, and the primary thing should be visual... I'm trying to figure out how to wrap text - it's a struggle!!

Caught up...loving this epilogue! The format works for me...I think it's a valid comic approach, 'specially with this quality of writing! Looking forward to what you do next!!

Thanks! As with anything new, we're always nervous starting it - but that the idea is acceptable makes it easier!!
