Rhiaan just can't say NO!
So, see that swirly lighter circle pattern hovering around the Constable? That was my attempt to make it look like he was swirling his staff in a circle very fast, but it actually looks like a glowing energy… maybe a buildup effect… Oh well, guess I should've added some lines or something!

Hmm, I almost think he threw in that wager just to help his chances. The twirly effect would work a little better if you added some ghosty attenuated stop motions of the staff as it propellers around.

Draw an actual spiral. For me that would be a motion blur at top and some forced perspective with blurred multiple images.
