*GASP!* That took some cojones! Of course, telling him "no" is just going to make him want her even more.

I can say with confidence there'll be some ramifications!!

You pose a very interesting and debatable perspective on the responsibility of just being female, whether through social pressure or ones own sense of duty. As always with your writing, the womans strength always surpasses her weaknesses and creates for us a very admirable heroine.

Finally caught up!! The story and art are outstanding!!

Hey Thank you J!

The top illustration is a pretty good insight as to why she refused him. Why would she want to become a domesticated baby-factory sitting in a gilded cage, when she is used to running wild in the woods?

This is something I've given some thought too... In our modern over-populated world of over-abundance, NOT having kids isn't detrimental to society, but in this world that still remembers recovering from a vast apocalypse (if sort of in mythological way), having children might've been THE most important thing (although that need is slowly lessening)!! I want it to be understood that motherhood is very revered and acknowledged for the important thing that it is, but... it really does significantly burden a woman down (that's just reality). It's still seen as a very important duty and women who don't 'do their duty' are not looked upon favorably. Even so, women who are extremely talented on a valuable skill-set (that takes ups a lot of time and resources) might be given an exception to baby-factory jobs... Rhiaan could certainly be one of those, provided everyone knew the truth about her...

I did not expect him to be so nice about it. She's missing out on a big opportunity. Her other commitments to family, etc. must weigh heavy.
KimLuster at 12:31PM, Feb. 22, 2018
She certainly has a few things to consider that most don't, and he might not stay nice about it!

Rhiaan is one special girl. Rhone is good to have around Rhiaan, she keeps her outta trouble!
KimLuster at 4:23PM, Feb. 21, 2018
Poor Rhone! It's a fulltime thankless job!!

Lovely art. Interesting custom. It's like an effective anti-stalking law. (We could use those.)

Thanks! Lots of things have developed in this world that make it easier to deal with some unsavory things that occur in ours. Due to how kai-strands (soul strings) make connections, it's extremely hard to deny paternity or get away with rape (and the sembuls can function as chastity-guardians if the female desires, making even attempted rape much harder) Sadly, there are ways the determined can get around them; it's just harder so fewer try... And of course kai-connections have introduce new wrinkles of their own we don't have to deal with (internal privacy, lying and keeping secrets, is harder...)

She is well within her rights and should be grateful she lives in a world where she can say "no" In most no is not a word in a woman's vocabulary.
KimLuster at 10:51AM, Feb. 21, 2018
True! When envisioning this 'exclusivity' I tried to combine how nature really works with humans' desire for being treated 'right'. In nature, many male animals will try to fight off other males, in a round-about way of claim 'exclusivity', but some females, just because the male stakes a claim, doesn't mean she belongs to him, or will mate with him... Anyway, I tried to work these dynamics in with human customs growing up around them. It's not elegant, but in nature, what is?!

Using SOK as an example, do you think Orshia or Illya could have declined their proposed marriages? That's another reason sorceresses remain unmarried. No man can claim one as his.
