New page!! I looked at some book about self-publishing at the bookstore (read it there– that's wut i do) called “Indie Publishing”, and it really inspired me. When I finish this, I'm gonna try to self-publish. AND I'll follow through this time!! not like .. with misfit assassins.
there are so many things, though, and I would definitely end up losing money, but it's all in the pursuit of fame, right? (well, fame & fortune, but I'll settle for one or the other.) I think maybe my goal should be to make enough money for a second run?
There's this website called comixpress, and it looks like the cheapest one out there.. one cool thing they do is offer a comixpress ad, and if you put it in, you can save about 50 cents per copy. For a 44 page full-color comic, it'd cost about… $4. So I was thinking $8 a comic, but someone told me do 10, because if I sell at a bookshop, they'll take some of the money… hummm… and there's shipping and stuff… gruh! Anyway, let's not get lost in pipe dreams.
I actually quite like this page… don't know why I went with an amateurish overhead shot, or that terrible one in the second row… meh. couldn't fix it.
and Jadwiga's a smoker… I figured, appropriate since she's a rebel AND it takes place in the late 80s, when everyone smoked (and it's in eastern europe, where purportedly everyone STILL smokes…)
Oh and I'm re-upoading the last page, with direly needed changes…
THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS!!
oh and question: do you think $8-$10 is an exorbitant price for an approximately 44 page, full-color indie-published work?

Yeah, $8-$10 seems good. Most comics usually sell within that price range, anyhow. Good luck with the self-publishing! Those two had better be careful now. D:

wow, sounds like $10 isn't too much then! I'm going to try (operative word=TRY) to finish it this summer, and perhaps sell at SPX, Small Press Expo in DC. Actually I just looked up table prices, and it's $185 for half a table. uggh. maybe next year... :(

no way, $8-$10 for something this cool is a perfectly reasonable price. In Barnes and Noble, most manga costs about $10, not counting tax, so I don't see why you can't charge $10 for yours ^.^

Very Nice. I've heard that comixpress is good. As is lulu. I think 22 pages is pretty standard for either 2.99 or 3.99 us (in that range). although I paid $5 for a little short indie minicomic the other day :) (about 20 pages). I think 8-10 is good depending on how you will distribute it. I know a few people that have self-published and have looked into it. oh, and it might not be a fit but you can look at stawberrycomics.com Gina Biggs runs it and she's cool. Did I say awesome page? Awesome page! I love the last panel.

I think $10 is perfect, thats like the equivalent of £5, right? That sounds about right for a 44page full colour! Also, a tip, dont print the price on the front of the book, just put it on a stand/label or wait for people to ask. that way you can sell it for a bit more at book stores, and if people buying at small press cons say its too cheap/too expensive, you can change the price right away :) also dont worry about making money, its way too hard to make money at first, get known first and make money later, or keep your money for more print runs if you sell enough! ^_^ I really like the last two panels of the page, the first one is very daunting, like the world is out to get them, and the watercolouring on the next is lovely. I can really imagine her smoking

I think $8-10 is actually Reasonable, considering it's color. I'm sure youll find plenty of people willing to buy it. Anyway, this page looks good! Jadwiga is currently my favorite character in this series, is she modeled after you a little?

I like the last page a lot better that way. :) I wish I knew more about self-publishing so I could give some advice- I will say that $12 is a very reasonable price for a 44 p. full-color book, though. I think it depends on how ambitious your plans for distribution are, though- it'd probably be much easier to sell on commission through local shops, or through online sellers than it would be to get it distributed. I'm planning on going with lulu when I get the 4th issue done; dunno if you've looked at them, but I know a lot of people here have used 'em.

This page does a good job demonstrating both the setting and Jadwiga's character. Good luck with the self-publishing! I get printed copies of all my books, because it's nice to have a solid form around aside from the original drawings.

Ooooh. I definitely wanna check out this comixpress thing you speak of :3. Once again, beautiful paintings. It's very impressive that you painted all of this :3.

Drunk duck cut half my comment! T-T That car really does look awful, and Jadwiga is really pretty on this page.

I'll buy your comic! Though I don't know how to change pounds into dollars through internets >
