That's right, it's the Cigarette Smoking Girl! XD Now we know her name's Martha!
Also, Ex factis jus oritur means “Law that arises from the facts” as in, a certain pre-existing, non-criminal situation.
Basil was a law student after all, some of it is bound to show :) There was a life before the war struck.
Lastly, the name Antartes is Greek for Resistance, and I am using it like that because at the time yet there was no official name for Resistance folk, and the ones Basil is refering to are specific people. They did get their official names soon enough, but at the time we are (October 1942) they were still relatively unofficial.
Yet. ;)
More or that to come! BUT PLEASE! Those of you who know what I am talking about, don't give it away! If you want to ask if you've guessed right PQ me :)
Well, as you were a long-time reader of Shades, you don't need me to tell you how much I enjoy wordy comics! But, for the record, I'm going to have to disagree with brumagem.
Comics which rely too heavily on the art to carry the story and skimp on the dialogue have very little interest for me. Dialogue is just as important as art for conveying character and, tf you use it too sparingly, you're throwing away one of your primary tools. It would be like making a silent movie after the invention of "talkies". Sure, you can do it, but it's better with sound!
And besides, I just likes me a good read!
brumagem: You think so?
How would you have them pantomime the particulars of relating what they'd done off stage?
Please give me an example to see what you mean. One always strives for improvement.
You're comic is too wordy; you feel the need to explain more than you need to. Let the characters' actions and faces do more of the talking. This is one of the most vital parts of comicry.
I discovered this comic one day before it was featured?? That can't be a coincidence :3
Congrats!
I haven't read all of it yet, but the subject matter is very intriguing, and your art is beautiful.

I hope Batman isn't in this story given to how badly he reacts to hearing peoples mothers that happen to be called Martha
