Of course it's my real name!

And if there were more hippies like me voting there is no way that damned polluting pulp mill in one of the world's most pristine environments would be going ahead… not to mention that Australia would be practically running on renewable energy… not to mention the air would be cleaner, the food less toxic, no water crisis… etc… etc…etc

well Aussies are basically like the Americans in that there are 2 major parties- The Liberals and the economy destro-I mean Labor

As a supporter of the Liberal party(and unfortunately not old enough to vote) I am upset that Labor got into power

JUrbas… so set in your beliefs already… (sigh)… how old are you again?

Mate, I grew up on a farm with National Party loyalty under Joe BjekePetersen.

As one gets older one wises up to the way the world really works, and what's really important.

I was keen as any Aussie to get rid of Keating, but mate, I've seen little Johnny Howard lie about so many things…

He has reaped the rewards of the world-wide mineral boom and claimed his good fortune as good management.
And who has gotten rich?
The banks and mineral bosses. He has stripped workers rights, destroyed vast areas of the environment, created a society where the average joe has next to no chance to ever buy his own home because of the ridiculously high prices, and worse of all, committed mass murder in a war that few australians supported in order to gain ‘lick-arse’ rights with an insane meglomaniac.

As an australian I feel ashamed to be involved in this blatant thievery of a soveriegn nations resources… particularly because that thievery has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and the ruin of millions more.

And this support has entwined us even more to a currency that is doomed.

I just hope Peter Garrett can now express his true environmentalism and do some desperately needed repairs to our depleted environment. (That's if certain global forces don't freak out and pull another Kerr/Whitlam stunt)

Something aside from abuse their senate power, anyway.

I'm 16 Cartoonprofessor

I've studied history, politics and have grown up in several different worlds

I've grown up with a single mother
Then both parents
One working
Both working
My mum buying her own business

I've lived in the country and the city.

In all these circumstances I beleive that the systems that the Liberal govt. puts in place is the better alternative to Labor

I'm sure that when I get to vote that there may be an independent with policies that I believe will serve me better
or maybe even the greens….but I doubt I will ever vote Labor

I also find the war in Iraq sad. However somethings MUST be done for the benefit of the nation.
The Americans are our allies and because of their messed up voting system(we can discuss later) they have a President that made bad decisions
HOWEVER as our allies(and one of the largest powers in the world) we do need to support them. even if it does however mean that we include ourselves in a slaughter of many people…it is fairly reasonable to say that a leader able to stand up to the American President would only exist in a movie(such as Love Actually) unfortunately we need a kiss arse.
(Rudd is not brave enough either)

If however the economy does improve, Peter Garret stands up for the environment and Rudd stands up to Bush…I will retract my statements as false and unsupported!

CartoonProfessor I do not mean to offend you with these statements

I voted the Greens and I voted the Dems for the senate. None got in though! :(
I live in a SUPER safe Lib seat.
Well at least my MP (Julie Bishop) isn't a cabinet minister any longer lol!

None taken Jurbas.
Garrett joined the labor party because he understood that standing for the greens or as an independent would never gain him any productive power.
Unfortunately if yiou are not labor or liberal you cannot get anywhere in politics in Oz.
I too have studied history, particularly modern and political, and ven though I grew up pretty right wing I have swung, with age and experience, to the left. In my opinion Hugo Chavez is a hero to all peoples everywhere for returning his country's resources to his people from the hands of the multinationals.
Capitalism simply cannot survive… it needs constsnt growth and that is impossible in a world of limited resources.
Communism will never work either… simply put, it is against human nature.
Whether socialism will work is something we will have to wait and see. It appeasr to be working and working well in Venezeaula.

I don't trust Rudd either… He looks like a non-bald Howard, I tend to think he'll be much the same kind of guy while he's in power too… Maybe not. Hopefully not!

Still, it's a bit late, those cowards who all voted in the Libs after the events of the 11th of September failed us. Because of them we got pulled into these stupid invasions and even after we were stuck in them the tards voted to keep the libs in and so keep us there too. This win comes far too late. -_-

yeah basically I'm a Liberal supporter…..however that is really only compared to other major parties

The Labor party just have different policies economically that I don't feel so sure of. Economically the Liberal government is a safe option

The Greens….well to me just seem a little ONE minded…sure they care about the environment but what else? it feels like nothing else matters to them I kno they have policies for other areas but basically they are environment centred

What I would like is an indepependent that would support the same ideals as myself (one day I may even run as an independent)

Fun news-I gave blood today!! Woo I love being able to such fun! and being an Australian we have he safest blood donor system in the world!

True, Howard is more fun to draw. I've noticed in most newspapers the caricaturists draw Rudd as Charlie Brown or Tintin huh!?

Basically it was the least painful needle I've ever had

once it's in it doesn't hurt it actually feels pretty good, then all the free food afterwards makes u feel all better.

then you get that warm fuzzy feeling that you've helped save lives, especially when they tell you it saves women giving birth so that children don't get born motherless

There seem to be a lot of aussies in #drunkduck. you can get there by clicking the link in my sig. or if you have an IRC chat client, the same link has the necessary info to get there.

(I personally am not Australian. I'm one of those damned Yankees.)

I'm unhappy, Rudd is more difficult to draw that Howard, nerd
WTF? he looks exactly the same! ..Well he's not bald yet and his eyebrows are thinner, but he's just Howard MkII. In fact, Kevin looks just as nerdy as John. :)

Jurbus, that “warm fuzzy feeling” is oxygen depletion from your brain due to blood loss. ^_^

Hahaha, Randal, we call them “Yanks”, it's the shortened version, but it's close enough :D

I can't wait for Christmas. An Aussie Christmas is the greatest thing in the world.

It's normally held somewhere outdoors with a large group of people.
Normally there is a large amount of water somewhere such as the beach or a pool.
Most people have a cold meal for lunch and dinner(cold meat and salad in my family)

Breakfast is sometimes a warm meal(but we no longer have bacon and eggs coz my little brother nearly choked one christmas)

Anyone wanna care to add on to that?
