Its just a SYNDROME when everyone perceives the existence of a hurricane… and when their houses just happened to be destroyed by a hurricane… and they get upset about it. That's not normal.
Its a SYNDROME. There's no such thing as a hurricane.
I have spent the majority of my day at work trying to get people to say, in a crotchety old man voice, “My knee's flarin' up - must be a hurricane a-comin'.” I have been remarkably successful.
i got lucky, as i was driving home i saw a fueling truck filling up the gas station, and barely anyone there. Also all tolls were free so i saved money as i was going to work. im off all weekend, so i can weather the storm in my apartment. i still cant believe walmart closed….WALMART NEVER CLOSES! thats the sign of the apocalypse!
also here's a picture i took off an empty gas station…you see that a lot.
Well, Ike totally missed me and Amanda (in Austin) – by 70 miles – but I feel sorry for South Texas, they got slammed! 2 million without power in Texas, 288,000 without power in Louisiana. Just the initial video footage of Galveston and Houston is pretty amazing. I'm not looking forward to the casualty reports when they finally assess all that.
I survived! my apartment is in the middle of the complex so i wasn't getting full force winds. I was playing a videogame until the power shut off. the worst thing was the power outage for 1 1/2 days. bored and hot as hell! sweating while trying to get some sleep… Sleep deprivation caused me to sing random songs.
here's some pics: me watching tv a couple minutes before the power went off.
that's scary no lights anywhere but lightning
my survival kit. radio and cigarettes
during the night i keep hearing this twisting sound. i guess this was it. a car was under there, but they said there was no damage to it. luuucky! and im glad nothing happened to my car.
this car was not too lucky
a tree had flown several feet to the gate entrance of my apartment. tried to pick it up…but then i realized trees were heavy. so i helped this guy drag the tree away and realign the gate.
check out that roof damage. im glad i dont live on the top floor or the frist floor.
random shots of damage around my neighborhood
i went to my parents house and see if my dad was okay. here's some damage shots.
psshhh….i was in biloxi mississippi when katrina hit. i didnt even know what was going on until they evacuated us to a hurricane shelter that took more damage than the dorms that we were in.
but glad to know everyone's safe….
