Hi there.
I won't be posting for a while, but I want to know if this is right stradegy.
I have a comic in progress that I planning on publishing for print, and I was thinking of using online websites to give teasers of them; 1 or 2 chapters posted bit by bit, week by week or something like that. Would that be feasible, or would it be better to gradually post an entire finished book?

thanks
JoAnne

Hi, JoAnne! Welcome to DrunkDuck! :)

jshweid

To answer your question, I think that it'd be better to gradually post the entire finished book. After all, there are too many incomplete comics on this site, and you wouldn't wanna leave your readers hanging now, would you? By the way, is there anything you'd like to say about yourself here? Or is there anything you'd like to talk about, like–oh, I dunno, the weather?!
Renga: How are you everyone !!
Renga: All your weather are control by me.
Renga: I has a weather machine.
DrunkDuck: What you say !!

stradegy

That's an odd word, what does it mean? Is it similar to strategy?

jshweid
using online websites

Terrible idea, you should use offline ones instead.

Just trying to get information.
and to answer your question, the weather is very brisk and chilly at the moment.

okay if online places aren't best place to market my work, what is? it seems silly to post an entire book because then they would have no reason to purchase it. am I mistaken?

Pay no attention to Custard Trout he is a bit cranky at times. It would probably be best to post it little by little instead of all at once, it could help to hook the readers and leave them wanting more.

Well jshweid, one of two things could happen if you follow your plan. Fistly, it's possible that nobody will read it and nobody will care that it's incomplete. That's if you're lucky.
If you're unlucky your comic will take off and an ever growing number of readers will tune in for your weekly posts, until you become the toast of the Duck. Then, when they realise that you don't intend to finish the story here and expect them to buy a print version to find out what happens, you will become the most despised creator ever to use this site and you'll have to go into hiding. It won't stop there though: Determined and slightly disturbed readers will piece together enough snippets of information to track you and your family down and eventually you'll all have to assume new identities in a foreign country, although it should be remembered that there are Duck users practically everywhere.

I hear Antarctica is nice this time of year.
Er……..boo!

You want that translated into nosenseofhumourese? Of course:

This is a site designed for publishing your webcomic. Nobody wants to see part of your story as a means of promoting a print comic. We want to see the whole thing please: I'm sure we'll love it. We're all very accomodating. Be nice to us. Pretty please.

Since the name of this part of the forum didn't tell you the subject of this forum, And it's REALLY, REALLY obvious, I should tell you what it is.

But I won't.

What are you looking down here for? Think I would tell you in tiny writing? I told you I wouldn't.
