My tastes kick ass. The problems I have with the series are that, while Lucky star is a good manga, I hate the anime, plain and simple. My problem with Haruhi is that the female lead seems almost completely insufferable and the series seems to revolve around her ‘wacky ideas’. I have no problem with high school oriented animes(I love Clannad,for instance), but those two just aren't really my style.

I like the anime Lucky Star because it's a bit slow paced and the plot is super simple… it's a refreshing break from all the fast action-y animes now like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and the complicated story-centric ones like Shigofumi.

As for Haruhi… I actually like it because of all the stuff that goes on behind Haruhi's back. As much as she is the main character, it's cool that the viewers are in on a secret that she herself isn't.

Aaaaand, that's it! Just trying to help you see how people can like something seemingly overrated. :3

I haven't read the Lucky Star manga so I can't compare it to the anime, but I do like the anime. I mostly agree with Pastel on how it's a nice break from all the over-excited action stuff, but part that kept me interested is how it just bobs along without anything incredibly big happening. Or at least, not anything that isn't just life. The pointlessness and down-to-earthness is what kept me watching.

As for Haruhi, I have the first bunch of episodes on DVD, but I haven't seen any yet, so no opinion there yet. Although I love Aqua's (I think it was Aqua) fansubs of it.
