A picture my art teacher took of me:

One of the few that I actually like of myself… kinda

bored.
so i whipped up a quick photoshop of evil snuffkin as her character :)

The girls totally stole this thread for the last page and a half. Time for a counterstrike >:)

Took this one myself. FAQ: that scar is from a kidney surgery.

Also taken by moi. Click, ten seconds to get into posiotion, tangle up my fingers to the point almost breaking and dislocating both shoulders - aaaaand SNAP! ;)

This was taken by a friend (a she, just so you know :P) on another occasion. There's hardly one sharp pic from that “photoshoot”. For some reason, her hands shook like crazy. Hmm…

Could someone tell me the thinking behind haircuts in the US armed forces? Or is that particular style just for the US Marines? Still, it'd be interesting to know the reason, it's quite “distinctive”. :)

The “High and Tight” was originally a Marine haircut, but it was adopted by the other branches of the military over time. the only reason I know of the haircut to look the way it does, is to display that that person is in the military (due to the fact it looks so ridiculous, that no one in their right mind would get one voluntarily), additionally, in the Army (who I serve), only enlisted soldiers bear the haircut, as the officers usually just have a standard fade, so it also segregates the two major echelons of the rank system. I also believe, that the fact that every soldier has the same haircut, improves the overall look of a unit in formation. it is MANDATORY to have either the “High and Tight” haircut or a shaven head. I actually have to get a haircut AT LEAST once a week, because if my hair gets too long, it shows a lack of discipline……

well….. I hope this helps!!!!!! (I'm sure any military knowledge Ozone Could get can only benifit his already stellar comic, “Pinky TA”)

Deuces!!!

Ah-ha! Thanks for that! :)
I'd heard that was where the term “jar head” for US marines came from, but then I'd also heard that came from the shape of some of the hats…

It does indeed help ^_^
It's always great to know about traditions and cultures like this, things that aren't obvious… Reminds me of when I found out the term “nom De Guerre” came from the French military tradition of soldiers adopting a special “name of war” when they joined up that replaced their old name- many modern French families can trace their family names back to that practise.

My ex-husband taught himself how to do a h&t so he could save the $8 a week. It was quite impressive, you should try it. At worst you mess up and have to shave it all, at best more money for recreation!
