Everyone who's ever hated their job has had some plan in the back of their heads that they'd like to use to quit it. Whether it's just telling your boss where to go, or reducing the entire place to smoking rubble.
Question, what's been yours?
Mine would be at the dept. store I'm currently working at, to kill half the lights (mood lighting), blast “Uncle F***a” from the South Park Movie through the PA, and ride proudly out of the store in a trolley-chariot, giving my manager the finger.
And I might throw some porn up on the giant screen up the back.

I wouldn't really call that an plan, more like an fantasy.
the sad reality is that if you tried that in real life, then it may reflect on you poorly in your next job.. especially if you hadn't secured another job and you needed the bosses to say some positive things about you in your resume.
plus it kinda enforces some kind of image about you that makes them feel like you weren't really needed, and that you basically did them an favor.
no, the best plan, is to work your ass off while looking for another job opportunity serectly…
make your boss and other workers feel like they NEED you… and then when you've got another better job, one that you love more than your current job.. then just tell them you're quiting.
nothing personal against them, of course. that's just you feel like you need a change, blah blah blah….
your boss will be crying on the inside that he lost such an valuable worker, and the best part? he'll put out there that you're an wonderful worker… making you seem much more valuable to your new boss.
the best blow ever to people that you dislike greatly… make them need you, even if they don't really like you at all… then leave them when they need you the most.

When I was a chef I always wanted to smear steakblood all over my white cooking clothes and come bursting out of the kitchen screaming “Dear GOD! The burgers! The burgers are people! PEOPLE!!! AHHHH!”

This may not sit well with a lot of you, but when you get older and look back on your behavior, and actually see it from your boss' POV, then you will probably just think you were acting like a stupid kid. You may even feel bad about giving your boss a hard time.
It's not all your fault. Angst, rebellion, and thinking older people are stupid is part of being a teenager/twenty something. The Physical and mental changes that you go through during this time are enough to make anyone act out the way you probably do.
When I was a kid, I had several jobs. I always though it was my BOSS that was the idiot. Now I realize I left him no choice as to how he treated me, and others like me.
Your boss' goal is probably to make sure things are run smoothly and that the public experience is a pleasant one. If you are hired, you are essentially entering a contract stating that you will try your best to help him/her achieve those goals. If you are rebellious, hormonal, emo, or even just don't smile at your customers, you are breaking the trust he put in you. Ultimately, YOUR BOSS looks worse than you do to the public and the people your boss works for because he's the one that gave you a chance. Additionally, your boss probably has a family that he needs to support, so this job is waaaayy more important to him that it is to you.
That not to say all bosses are great. But when it comes to real assholes, it's usually the exception rather than the rule.

I dream of the day that I know is my last day - in that I have put in my two weeks because I've already secured another job for myself or manage to finish a book I'm working on (you know, one of the thousands) and get an agent interested and get it published.
That last day, oh will it be glorious. Sure, it'll be hellish for my store, because I'll stop playing “nice, conciliatory sales assistant” and go to “You're an idiot and I'm going over here” bitch.
I've been planning this day since starting my job, and noting how the customers for the most part are complete assholes.
Oh how I'll snap back!
“Excuse me, can you help me?”
“Do you see my hands full of toys? Go away.”
“Excuse me, do you know how much this is?”
“There's a price checker two feet behind you, find out for yourself.”
“This isn't the price it's supposed to be!”
“Sorry ma'am, but you probably don't know how to read, or couldn't be bothered to. This is the price, either buy it, or stop wasting my time. It's not my fault you're a moron.”
….Oh, how I long for punching them in their faces… metaphorically speaking of course.

Not always true. I'm no kid, for the record, but a few years ago I had a moron boss at a moron job in the mall. The more I look back on it the worse it looks. She would be a hard ass on all of the other employees, but she herself would show up late, leave early, alter the timeclock to make it look like she worked more than she did, go out to dinner while on the clock, and spend her entire shift sitting in a chair behind the register or on the phone. The other managers were also stealing everything and selling drugs from the store without the manager noticing. Some bosses are just morons. And I think everyone should have to work in the service sector, as a retail sales people or as servers or bartenders, so they will remember that the people serving them are human beings and should be treated as such.
OH, and if you do quit your job like that, make sure you have another job lined up, because there's no going back. Don't want to learn that one the hard way. ;-)

I worked a temp job one time in a chemical plant and someone spilled hydrochloric acid on the floor. My boss told me to just keep working and not to worry about the cloud over there. It would stay where it was. They saved me the trouble of quitting by laying me off later. I probably fantasized about getting out with my life.

Are there good bosses? Really? lol!
Yeah, I've had lots of decent bosses. I had one idiot though that would be a good model for the pointy haired guy in Dilbert, except unlike Pointy Hair he really did try and do the job as best he knew how… but like Pointy Hair he didn't know anything about what he was doing and he messed up everyone's lives by interfering constantly in their jobs and micromanaging what he didn't have a clue about.

I've got a great boss. I work at a pet store where there are only around 15 employees and we're all under thirty and like to goof off at work. :P
Recently though, we got a new manager-ish person from LA and she's nuts. She's not quite as laid back as us arkies and she can be a little harsh, but I think we're rubbing off on her.

This would be fantastic. Just the image of this in my head had me laughing for a couple of minutes.

I love my boss. He's absolutely the best person I've ever worked for, and it's my respect for him that keeps me from snapping at people who ask ridiculous things like “Where is aisle 2?” or “The bathroom has a sign saying it's out of order. Is it out of order?”
He's kind of like Dustin Hoffman's character from “Meet the Fockers”, all chilled out and cool. So it's hard to be all stressed out when your boss is like “you having a hard time? Just go get some fresh air, come back when you want”.. It makes me want to work harder for him, not take advantage of it. He's great.
But I still hate my fucking job.

I rarely see or hear from my boss (which means I'm doing good in my case), so I can't complain about him. He doesn't give anyone a hard time or anything and his only concern is making sure all the schools have custodians and/or maintenance people where needed (though fucking maintenance doesn't do their goddamned jobs).
As for quitting a job? I'll say this big so you do not miss it…
DO NOT DO SOMETHING STUPID! IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!
Just walk the fuck out on them if you really want to piss them off. Just walk out! Pulling some epic stunt like that may land you with legal charges (disorderly conduct anyone?) and difficulty finding a future job.
Save yourself the trouble, just give your two weeks and leave. If you can't do that, just walk out. Trust me, those are far mor preferable than blasting Uncle Fucka and riding out on a bunch of carts.
