Desert Ray and Bubos Stinger
kalliikak on Dec. 3, 2010
two of the creatures you might find in the Kirabo desert.
the desert ray has a segmented body (like an earthworm) helping it move over the sand, or burrow just below it as it waits for prey. generally not dangerous to larger animals unless stepped upon, and often the think, rough hide is used to make a variety of goods such as shoes, belts, bag linings, or sword/gun grips.
the bubos stinger is a large scavenger insect found in the rocky desert terrains, often using a natural cave or sand blown tunnel to form make shift “hives”. they are flightless, though the extended tail and ‘fins’ allow for long jumps.

Ain't nothin' that I like more'n creature design. Ray-leather boots are now on my wishlist.
