Scene Three p2
PeterAaronRose on April 18, 2007
First off, apologies for the delay in posting. I had impromptu surgery earlier in the week to address a sports injury suffered the week before. I'm on the mend now, so we can get back on with our show!
This page continues our Chinatown sequence, which is really the first action scene since the prologue. After drawing the conversation and forensics sequences, Brent was itching for a little action, which I was more then happy to accommodate in the first half of this scene. It also gave Brent another chance to flesh out Joshua's cane, which, along with the next page, reveals more about its true nature.
Structurally, I paced this page to a nine-panel grid. Brent converted the fourth and fifth panels into one, which enables a medium shot that provides a better view of the cane and ultimately makes this sequence that much the stronger.

Getting tough with the rif raf. Some times you just gotta.

very lovely coloring, the contrast and grayscale gradients make all the panels look even more dramatic.
