Oh, I forgot to mention it, but we didn't have a community spotlight on Wednesday because we decided to take a little break from them for a while. There's still lots of people we'd like to draw attention to (and please let us know if there's someone you think deserves a spotlight too! We can't know everybody on the site…). But we think it would be a good idea to use that “space” to promote other community things sometimes too! We're hoping to devote a nice string of those to promoting the Radio Play 2012 to try and get lots of participation. :]
Speaking of community things, I saw a thread about the Halloween Cameo Caper in the forums! It seems a little early but this is a big multi-comic undertaking which has been going on for over 5 years, so it takes a bit of planning! (And some people make it quite a big deal for their comic!) If you're interested, check out that thread and keep it in mind, and perhaps suggest some locations for the comic-character-party, which needs to be decided within the next few months!
from dedasaur:
The Pirate Balthasar will soon be 2 years old! 900 pages into the story and 18 chapters later it feels like it's been a long run and, at the same time, it feels like yesterday when the whole adventure started. To celebrate the anniversary we're getting together to play a little game too.
Something like a fan art/fan fiction/poetry/graphic design/photography/“Be Creative” contest and the award would be an original watercolor illustration, yes, in full colors that Deda will personally ship to you via snail mail!
What do you say? Are you in?
armandoB's comic Cataclysm is about to reach 400 pages! It's well worth checking out!
from royduncan100:
Roy Duncan's Saturday Morning page has hit and passed the milestone of 25 and on its next post it will be at the 30 posts mark. It has all new characters created by me and some of the classic cartoon characters of Saturday mornings past. All of the art for the comic is done in a more animated style than my previous comics. It also has pages of the classic comic book ads from the past! All in all it's a fun romp and is more of an all ages comic than the Villain Next Door series. I will also be going to print with the first issue in the next couple of weeks. All that's left to do for printing is some final touch ups and it's ready to go!
Also at "past 25 and more actually 30 pages" is El Comikaze by Camp Poopy! It is “the Moby Dick of comics” which I think means there is a guy out there obsessed with harpooning it?
from Allyndn:
My comic Found Art hit page 300 today (January 26). Since it began February 2 years ago, I've been averaging a page every two or three days.
Book 1: Pawn's Eye View is a free download from DriveThruComics which takes the first two chapters of Found Art, adds 50% more pages, remastered art, and improved typography. “A great combination of sci-fi with plenty of good dialogue and character development,” according to a recent review.
Halloween Cameo Caper, Pirate Balthasar contest, and plenty of milestones!

Thanks for the showcase! :) For the Capers we usually take the first 4 months in the year to come up with suggestion for which setting to host it in, then compile the 10 best question into a poll that will run for the next month or so, finally settling on the setting. Around June/July we open for sign-up, closing around September, giving people, those who want to run a more complex storyline on this, time to talk and plan out before the Caper really starts to roll out in earnest in October, culminating on the 31st. Capers have started earlier and lasted MUCH longer than this though :) Hoping to see lost of new and interesting faces this year, if nothing else, just to take part in the setting-discussion! :) - Hogan
